Random Quote: ''Meow, Man!'' (Cat, Lufia II) - Submit?

TAC Turns 4 Well, it was yesterday, but TAC is now officially 4 years old. :)

Will it make five?  I guess we'll see this time next year.

.de E-mail ban lifted Along with blacklisting URLs, I am pleased to announce that thanks to the enhanced anti-spam registration features of IPB 2.2, I have been able to lift the e-mail ban on all e-mails with a german (*.de) domain.

You will now be able to register on the forum with an e-mail address ending with .de again.  However, if this ends up bringing spambots back to TACF in any way, this ban may be reimposed.

(The new anti-spam registration features also allowed me to make a big cleanout of banned e-mail domains, so I'm damn well happy about it.)

Re: Blacklisted URLs

IPB 2.2 has a neat-o little feature now that allows me to disallow the use of certain URLs (or only permit the use of certain URLs) on the forum.  If you post the URL from the list of sites below, you will be returned an error saying that using that URL is not permitted.

As a result of this, the following domains have been blacklisted:

Blacklist - sites that are plain dumb.
outwar.com

Blacklist - visually offensive sites.
tubgirl.com
goatse.cx
lemonparty.org

Blacklist - Sites with a bad history with TAC
adventgamer.net
adventgamer.com
rpgpalace.net

Blacklist - Frequently used as spam/phishing sites
All URLs ending in .ru

For sites with a bad history with TAC
, if your site is listed here, it means that TAC has had a bad experience with the members of your site to the point where activities between the two have gotten hostile.  Please notify an administrator for clarity.

Do note that this only affects the forum, and not the whole site.

Forum upgraded to 2.2 RC2 This is just a notice that the forum has been upgraded to IPB 2.2 RC2.  If you frequent the forum, please make sure you clear your cache to avoid having problems.

TACF Upgraded to 2.2 RC1 TACF has been upgraded to IPB 2.2 RC1; the latest development version of IPB.  Now, before any of you go about whining that your profile pages aren't showing correctly, make sure that you clear your cache!  I will pretty much ignore anything saying a certain area of the site looks awkward until I've heard that it's actually been cleared.

Also, I'm going to put off reinstalling any mods until there are proper 2.2 mods for the forum and until IPB 2.2 goes final.  It's too much of a hassle to have to reinstall mods after every upgrade.

Hopefully you guys enjoy what 2.2 has to offer!

(Also, I'm going to be looking for a new skin, since our old one was 2.1. :P)

TAC having DNS Issues

TAC is currently experiencing technical difficulties with DNS.  If you can read this message, you're probably one of the lucky ones.

My host has confirmed that there is a problem with the DNS; what exactly it is they're not sure about.  Everyone please be patient and hope that this gets resolved soon. I apologize for the inconvenience.

TAC at its new home

If you can see this news post, then you're at TAC's new location.

TAC now makes its home at Surpass Hosting, a host that I chose since it offers nearly 10 times the resources for a little over half the price, and so that I was on a host that's more oriented to the type of site I'm running.  (in this case, Surpass is generally for everything.)  AQ was more oreinted to business sites and, despite them being an awesome host, I felt the need to switch.

In the future, if people ever want me to host their site, or if a second site ever comes into the works, I may upgrade my account to allot for it, but for the time being TAC will just be a single site.

Other than that, I'm hoping that everything went smoothly.  Please let me know if you come across something such as a malfunctioning script or a bad URL, and make sure you clear your caches, too.

EDIT: Right now it seems that the only problem was on the backend side of things, with the CMS freaking out whenever I tried to create new data.  That, fortunately for the development of the site, has been fixed. Tongue out

TAC Switching hosts soon TACF has called AQHost its home for the past 2 years. However, as a site grows, sometimes it requires a bit of a change.

That seems to be the case with us now, and as I've found a somewhat better deal on webhosting, and will probably be essential if the time comes that I ever want to create a second site. I dunno about the actual quality of the host, but it seems to be okay from what I'm hear. (It's actually the same hosting that MaplePedia uses. If they don't work out chances are I'm going to go IPS.

However, AQHost is still an awesome host. If you want to host a moderate-size site, go with these guys. For the two years we've been here, they've been outstanding and I'm kinda sad to leave them.

No more crappy dynamic URLs!

After a month of working with crappy URL formats (index.php?id=x) I have finally got the motivation to make URLs more friendly.

There's no longer any need to change any URLs if you link to any page in the site, because I've finally got user-friendly URLs activated.  All the URLs that existed on TAC before the switchover to Etomite should now work fine, though there may be some inconsistencies.  If you link to a certain page and it does NOT work, let me know so I can either fix the alias or give you the new URL.

New features at TAC

Despite much difficulty (and accidentially overwriting the config file) I have managed to update Etomite (our new CMS) to its latest version.

After doing so, I'm pleased to say that I've added two fairly small tidbits to the site.  Both were actually taken (with some sort of permission) from Symphonic Heaven, though I believe these new snippets were also acquired via Etomite's website.  Either way...

Random Quote: Obviously, as the name states, it's a random quote generator.  Submitted quotes (Click "Submit?" to add one) are looked at and added to the database as they see fit, and are displayed at the top of every page.

Ask a Question: Just under the random quote on every page is a "submit a question" link.  You can use this form to ask questions on any Lufia game, or on the site itself.  As questions are asked I will be adding pages to show them to the public.

EDIT: I decided I'd move the Ask a Question link to the navbar instead, just for cosmetic reasons.  It kinda makes more sense, doesn't it?  I'll also be adding better write-ups to both the quote and question pages.
