The third-person action game has managed to sell 1 million copies in just two weeks on store shelves. It's officially the fastest-selling Xbox 360 game of all time. Over 850,000 gamers have taken their copies of GoW online in 10 million game sessions. The game has also boosted the number of Xbox Live paid subscriptions per day by 50 percent.

Corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios Shan Kim says, "From the very beginning, we knew Gears of War would be an industry-defining hit. As we watched both the game and its hype grow, it became obvious that Gears of War was the rare title that could live up to such incredible anticipation, and judging from the reaction of critics and fans, it's done just that." Rumors of a Gears of War trilogy are already starting to spread, and we wouldn't be surprised if they were true.
