Currently working on: completing major improvements to the maps (started in v3.30), due to popular demand- these include:
showing station services in each system
no. of asteroid belts in each system
black and white printout friendly improvements
showing constellation jumps
highlighting high sec to low sec jump lines- both to warn players who don't want to venture into low sec, and to warn players who's sec status is -5.0 or below that they are entering high sec
de-tangle the maps where possible (eg. get rid of crossed lines)
small cosmetic improvements to make the maps clearer
Thanks for your hard work on this great resource Ombey.
EVEMon & Revelations[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News | Category: EVE: Online News Anders Chydenius reports that currently the ever popular EVEMon application does not include the Revelations skills but that this should be remedied quickly after the Revelations dump on or around December 6th-8th. Keep up the great work Anders!
"There are just so many cool things that have come in with Revelations, I'm going to be like a kid in a candy store for months to come. I can feel the siren call drawing me back in. I haven't felt so eager to play EVE since I joined..."
Topic of the Week[ Comment ] Print News | Mail News | Category: EVE: Online News A recent thread here at Eve Vault discussed the following topic, "Are there enough consequences for pirating?". This is a great question and many people got into the discussion. Since then the thread seems to have died out a little bit but the question and ensueing discussion is just too good to pass up. Are the consequences for piracy too few in Eve? Should there be more control of pirates and their actions in Eve? Should CCP keep a "hands off" policy as they have in the past? Read the thread and then add your opinion.
"A new peak concurrent user record was set Sunday, Dec 3rd when 32,955 users were logged into EVE Online: Revelations. This would not be that significant if not for the outstanding performance the Tranquility server demonstrated under this enormous load."
There were quite a few nodes that did go down however during this time. It was reported that about half of Tash Murkon went down and needed to be rebooted. This however was from non-CCP sources. While all together things are looking really good, there seems to still be some serious issues that need to be addressed.
Tranquility will undergo an extended downtime on Tuesday, 5 December from 1100 to 1500 GMT. During this time, a patch will be applied to Revelations including a number of fixes and improvements necessary after its initial deployment.
Patch Notes are now available. Some updates will be made to the notes over the weekend as more fixes and improvements check through the QA process, these updates will be highlighted in green text. Notification of updates will be made in this announcement and this forum discussion post.
You are encouraged to read the Revelations Patch Notes for the list of changes and improvements already in place.
Patch day came and brought us a 62.7 Meg patch that patches version 2.14.27121 to 2.14.27912. If you need the patch, it is available either on login or here. Along with Patch day comes the fixes and new hurdles, so Bobum posted some info regarding known issues and workarounds for now.
Last night was amazing for a lot of reasons. The biggest release to date was deployed, we had a stable build we were happy with and we were able to deploy a lot of fixes and improvements to client and server performance.
Then, the size of the Tranquility cluster strikes once again, issues that crop up only when you have 15.000 pilots hammering our 150 server nodes. These are low-level issues which we have the whole server team working on and we're deploying server hotfixes in every downtime to fix these issues.
Additionally, we have a client patch release on Tuesday the 5th, which already has a lot of fixes to less severe client and server issues, but we need your assistance to make sure we're made aware of all issues you encounter. We encourage you to submit bug reports of what you encounter or reply to the deployment feedback thread in the EVE Information Portal forum.
So while we're ecstatic that Revelations is out, with new features and lots of optimizations and fixes, these low-level issues are our main concern. They will be addressed. Thank you all for hanging in there with us, it's because of pilots like you that the EVE exists today.
UPDATE: 29 November @ 1430 GMT
There is a known issue causing crashes with Dual Processor PC's. When warping to jump gates there is a chance that a CTD will occur. This is caused by a problem with Directx. In order to minimise the chance of this problem occurring please do the following:
Set the exefile.exe process affinity in Windows Task Manager to a single cpu.
Do not run with the client minimised and on autopilot.
These steps will not eliminate the chance of the crash occurring, but will minimise it. We are working finding a solution to this problem, but we have no ETA at this time.
Revelations Has Arrived[ 4 Comments ] Print News | Mail News | Category: EVE: Online News The servers are back up! The patch is approximately 62.7meg so get in the queue now. CCP is aware of current performance issues being reported and is throttling back the amount of users that can connect while they investigate. Hope you had your long skill training set! Enjoy the new patch!

Since Revelations is right around the corner we thought that it would be nice to see what you were looking forward to when it is released. You can let us know in our new poll. If you aren't up to speed on all the new fetures, check out the patch notes and let us know what you are anticipating.
"Today, the 24th of November, the peace loving forces of BoB report the destruction of one enemy ASCN Moros Dreadnaught, 23 hostile battleships and some support ships."
"The peace loving forces of BoB mourn the loss of two BoB frigates during the encounter"
"So... how will the Downfall of ASCN be judged you ask yourself...? Simple...
Either -
1.) When the ownership of Outposts in their home Region - Feythabolis - Drops to Three
(3) or lower - (currently 10+)
or
2.) When thier (ASCN's) numbers drop below one thousand (1k) members based on the official ingame rankings"
I personally don't think you should send him 10mil ISK to enter the pool, but I do think this is an interesting commentary on how many people are thinking that this war will truly be the downfall of Eve's largest corporation.
Somewhere in Reykjavik,
in a distant universe far into the future...
The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th and 10th of December will see the return of the EVE Online Alliance Tournament where 40 Alliances will compete in a knockout format over two weekends to be crowned Alliance Champions. For the second time, EVE TV will be there to broadcast the entire event, bringing you live commentary and expert in-studio analysis, as well as EVE Online's own fast PVP gameplay and stunning visuals.
During the last broadcast, Band of Brothers were crowned as champions for the second consecutive time as over fifty thousand individuals connected to the stream over the course of the tournament, culminating with over ten thousand viewing on the final day. Talking you through every single match live will be two members of a team of hand-picked commentators flown in from around the globe, bringing you the matches blow by blow. Detailed post-match analysis will be provided by a studio team consisting of two community experts selected for their extensive knowledge of the game, an EVE Online Developer or local player as a guest, all working with an EVE TV host for a fun and exciting professional sports broadcast.
Details on how to tune in have not been revealed yet, mainly due to problems with the FTL transmission systems. We have many Minmatar slaves working on fixing it and they should have everything online and functional in a matter of days.
In the meanwhile you can go to the EVETV website; and download previous matches from the Second Tournament broadcast in the summer, in addition to pieces filmed and broadcast live at the Fanfest '06.
Tranquility will have an extended downtime, Tuesday 28 November, running for 24 hours from 02:00 in the morning to 02:00 GMT Wednesday for the deployment of Revelations, Chapter I, the free expansion to EVE Online. Revelations features many improvements, new features, content and a wealth of optimizations and fixes both to server and client. Detailed patch notes and a features page will be available shortly.
