Now serving version 2.71...

Crisis Core in Crisis?!?!

Ive had different dates of when the game was coming out. August and then September of 06 Now i read a new one that it will come out in april of 07. So which is it? Or at least give an approximate?
-- Confused Gamer Paul

I'm sure that the confusion surrounding Crisis Core has affected many more people than just you, Paul. As far as we've been told, FFVII: Crisis Core will be coming out next year.

Voice of the Valkyries

Hi Jeff,

I would like to ask a question about the voice acting in Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth for PSP, on behalf of a good friend.

He was really happy to hear that there was a US version of the game, since he isnt at all fluent in Japanese like I am.

But what is troubling him right now is the voice acting. He has always prefered the original voice acting which is Japanese. From my experience I have told him that SquareEnix has had the reputation of only having English Voicing in their US versions.

Since I havent heard anything on the voice acting for the US version, I dont know what I told him is true or not. Could you tell me directly if the US version will have Japanese Voicing in it as well? Or when you get an early copy for review, could you write about it then?

Thank you for answering,

-- Ting

Hate to break the news to your friend, Ting, but you're correct about the voice work in Lenneth. The US Version will only feature the English voice acting, as well as a section where you can replay some of the voice clips and sounds from the various characters of the game. If there does happen to be any Japanese voice acting clips hidden in the game, I haven't uncovered it yet.

Castlevania -- MIA???

Okay... the PSP has been out for over a year now and I've been anxiously awaiting word on a Castlevania game for the system... but it seems like Capcom favors the DS for this particular franchise!

What a shame too! I think the PSP's analog stick would allow a perfect way of controlling the vampire hunting whip...

Even if a PSP version had old-school SNES graphics I'd be satisfied... COME ON!

--anthony

I'd have to agree with you, Anthony -- I've been looking forward to Castlevania on the PSP for a while, but unfortunately it just doesn't seem to be in the cards right now. If you, and other fans of Konami's classic franchise want to see a Castlevania game on Sony's portable, your best bet might be to start an email campaign to try to convince them to bring a game over to the handheld. Outside of that, you probably need to keep your fingers crossed that Konami decides to share the vampire slaying love.

Platformer Emulation

Hey I was wondering do you think it's possible the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro titles will end up on the PlayStation emulation that the PSP will have later this year? I ask this because they are my favorite games for the original PlayStation, but I know the character properties were sold off too Sierra Software.

Do you think Sony will make a deal with Sierra to make sure these games appear on the PlayStation emulation? Is that even possible?

-- Dan

Hey Dan, technically it's not impossible to get these two titles on the PSP: considering that the games will be opened up to a new market, which would mean more revenue for the companies that own the properties and rights to the software, it's totally conceivable that a deal would be made for these items to be digitally sold for the handheld. If you throw in the fact that Crash used to be synonymous with the PlayStation logo and Spyro is another "mascot" series that did well, it makes even more sense. The largest question would be whether or not Sony and Sierra's legal teams would want to work out a deal, and given the possible win/win for both companies, it wouldn't seem out of the question.

Wandering PSPs

Hi!! Awesome site!! I'm making a trip to Japan in a few weeks and I'd love to take my PSP for music, etc. I'm wondering though if I will have a problem charging the battery. I know Tokyo has 100V and 50 Hz but I thought I'd ask the pros (you... :D). Thanks for all your help!!

-- Alex

Hey Alex, hope you have a good time in the Land of the Rising Sun. I've been taking a look at some converters, and while there were some rumored PSP battery converters for foreign countries, those seem to be unavailable in stores. The easiest way to possibly get around this issue might be to grab a standard power converter (for instance, I think Kensington offers one that works in at least 150 countries) and plug your adapter into that to get the juice you need to keep gaming on the go.

Rockets bursting in air...

Hope you all are looking forward to the upcoming weekend -- I know I definitely am. Fourth of July parades, BBQ and some Valkyrie Profile/NCAA Football appear to be in my holiday forecast. Hope the next few days are fun for all!
