November 16, 2004 - Yes, we'd barely believe it either if we hadn't seen it ourselves: Half-Life 2 is here. More than six years in development, more than a year dramatically in the public eye, weathering delays and code theft and controversy, the sequel to one of the highest-rated PC games ever is now officially available.

At 12:01 AM today, Valve unlocked Half-Life 2 via its Steam service, activating the game for those who had pre-loaded and pre-ordered it online, as well as unlocking retail copies, which will appear in many stores today. Thousands of gamers screamed.

We realize that right now you're probably not even reading this. You're probably in the boots of Gordon Freeman, running the streets of City 17 and beyond. Or you're running off to your favorite game store, or placing your order on Steam. Still, we'll be here, gathering news, testing performance on various hardware configurations, and generally keeping your fight against the Combine well-supported.
