September 21, 2006 - Publishing giant SEGA is no stranger to Nintendo's consoles. The company supported the Big N's GameCube with some of its most cherished icons, including Sonic the Hedgehog. However, for many GCN owners the company's speedy blue mascot played second fiddle to a banana-loving newcomer. Of course, we're referring to the Super Monkey Ball series, whose two outings -- each filled with a wealth of brain-teasing puzzle arenas and fun mini-games -- proved to be sleeper hits.
During the next couple of months -- and leading up to the launch of Nintendo's new console -- IGN Wii will update every day (Monday through Friday) with new details, screenshots and video for one mini-game in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz. We aim to provide the most comprehensive breakdown of the minis in monkey history -- and we promise that when it's all over you'll have 50 more reasons to want SEGA's latest project.
Home Run Derby
Wii Sports Baseball? Who needs it when you've got Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz's Home Run Derby mini-game? Believe it not, the two really do play very closely. In Home Run Derby, you simply hold the Wii-mote as you would a baseball bat and when the ball comes your way you swing for the stars. It's that simple.
