All NOPL facilities will be closed on Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day. The Latter and Hubbell Branches will also be closed on Saturday, May 27.
New Orleans Public Library sends greetings and its gratitude to all who have expressed concern for our institution in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. It has been a difficult time for all of us associated with NOPL and for all of the citizens of New Orleans and the surrounding areas affected by the storm. And there are difficult times still to come for our great city. But we would like to assure our patrons, friends and supporters that we are already beginning to take steps to rebuild the NOPL system. This interim home page will provide information about our progress toward this goal.

If you or your organization would like to donate books, visit our Frequently Asked Questions on book donations. We have had overwhelming offers of such donations. News from NOPL . . . as we rebuild

![]() Public access to all three floors, circulation of materials, and library card registration are now available at the Main Library. The Children's Resource Center, and the Hubbell, Latter, and Nix Branches are also open for circulation and registration. All open NOPL locations continue to offer internet access as well as access to fax and photocopy services, and all locations are now offering audiovisual materials for circulation. Free wireless internet service is currently available at all locations. Waiver of visitor fees for internet use will continue until further notice. And, of course, patrons will not be held responsible for library books damaged or destroyed by Katrina.
