Yes I am the naive one, because I think it would be bad business practice to piss off a customer base when you could sell five times as many units as they have?? Right. Getting units into the hands of people would sell games, controllers and even faceplates, so instead of establishing themselves clearly as the market leader MS trickled out systems?? Why? Because in your world that makes more sense. Look at the time table. The Alpha Dev Kits and Beta Dev Kits were all way too late to support the launch. MS was one step behind in actual production for months. Oh and as for the shortage ending because demand is ending, umm no. Demand is still as high as ever. I still get 10-20 phone calls a day from people looking for systems. I meant the shortge was over because MS is catching up and we have been getting systems weekly for the last three weeks. You can live in your fantasy world if you want (What color is the sky, by the way). You probably also think that the units are flawed and there is a secret recall because they cause fires, when the actual rate of failure from all causes is less than 2% which for a major piece of elcetronic equipment is normal.

This would be excellent if I could remember the ****ing info when I had signed up on my last account almost 2 years ago.

You have no proof of this whatsoever. A slow feed into the market makes much more sense than flooding it, but if you are so insistent on believing that this was all an "accident", fine. You live in fantasy land, and I live in corporate America. No big deal. Saying the shortage is almost over means absolutely nothing. All shortages end sooner or later in the gaming world. Units lose the demand they once had, thus the end of a shortage. How have all of you forgotten about the ps2 launch? They did the EXACT SAME THING! There is no difference here, do you not see that? I give up, if you want to be naive, carry on.

DOA4 was probably delayed again for last minute fixes to the game's online system, like they said in the past. I'm a buyer and the game should be top notch because they took 4 years since DOA3. It's too much time! --- I don't know about another plant. Some says there are 3 plants, others, 5 plants. I think the problem is IBM and M$ knew that but prefered an early launch. If the launch was february: no shortage. But like I said in the past, if they made millions of consoles in advance and supposed a problem w/ only a little part, look for a massive recalls and then everybody is a loser. They need a periodic control of the marchandise and correct the problem subito presto. Maybe M$ had already some problems, we don't know. They don't talk too much about those things.

IT WOULD BE GOOD IF IBM CAN SPEED UP THOSE DAMN CHIPS. I BELIEVE IN JANUARY M$ IS OPENING AN ADDITIONAL PLANT TO PRODUCE EVEN MORE 360'S.

It seems that the shortage is the same problem as Aple w/ the G5 last year: IBM isn't fast enough w/ chips. --- It's good news, those of you who said that there are more and more 360s in their region. That's not the case in my region! January will be a big mounth for M$. The 360's base will be a mile ahead from the competition in one year. We have a shortage but look at the games in one year vs Sony. M$ will concentrate his efforts on the 360 w/ better games and a console at a better price vs XBOX-1 and rival Ps3. Don't expect a very low price for the XBOX-1 and expect a higher price for the Ps3. M$ wants to get rid of NVIDIA and the HARD DISC, so the Ps3 will be at a higher cost because the Ps3 is already at a higher cost and the 360 will have a drop from parts in one year.

The news is from MSNBC TV. The drop is for the holidays and specialists said that the reason is the shortage of 360s. They said that gamers are waiting w/ their cash for the 360. They can't buy 360's games and buy less XBOX's games. They keep the money in their pocket until then. The shortage has a big effect on the industry.

Did you see the news? - "A 16% drop in gaming industry, probably caused by the shortage of XBOX-360". Great news for M$. The XBOX-1 is losing ground, they said!

There were a LOT of 360's last week in my area. Every BestBuy and Target had at LEAST one shipment of anywhere from 15-40 Premium systems. My friends and I all got one at 4 different Target's last Wed. No problem.

Ballmer said that the possibility of a launch later with plenty of the 360 was on the table but they prefered an earlier launch. M$ can't do a launch with too much games, it's suicidal! And great games cost big money. --- I predict that the original XBOX has only two more years, not more. They hate the first console, it's too costly and ugly. The politic at M$ is not the same for XBOX vs Playstation. They are only interested in a new product. Just look at the 360 who takes 4 years vs Ps1 (1994), Ps2 (2000), Ps3 (2006): 6 years. --- The console's war is a must! Sony without M$ = very bad games w/ bad graphics and no online. M$ is the principal factor for great games and better and faster evolution. Sony is slow on the process and will lose the next battle. They have to make these CGs real and the next Killzone is already a flop.

The system launches with perhaps the best launch lineup in history(this included the Dreamcast)...and someone actually has the audacity to say the games are weak. That's "weak".

My position is the same. A statement with an indication of more units to come means nothing, one way or the other. One cannot use the logic that because we have not seen the additional units( who knows this for a fact anyway) does not mean that ms did not have intentions of creating and continue creating hype. Christmas of 05 is just a small piece of the picture. You must learn to think on a bigger scale. I would bet money that there will be a consistent amount of system being pushed out into the market well before the ps3 hits. I don't care about console wars, but all of this is nothing more than ms' shot a gaining a better foot hold on the market. When you begin to look at the bigger picture, things start to make a bit more sense. There aren't very good release titles right now, and yet there is still a large amount of interest in the system. Why? Hype and lack of product. I have a 360, but I fell victim to the hype machine myself. If I would have known that the current games were all I could really expect for the next few months, I would have waited it out. Instead, it turned into a must have. I don't even play with the damn thing anymore because the games are weak. Nothing has changed. Major in marketing, then it will make all the sense in the world.

WHERE ARE THEY? --- At the 360's launch, many people were upset by the shortage of the 360 and said that Microsoft DELIBERATELY caused the SHORTAGE of the XBOX-360! What are your position now on that matter? I said at the launch: "We have to wait until Christmas to see if M$ deliberately caused the shortage". Now it's clear that it wasn't the case. Somebody wants to debate this fact? At M$, Ballmer said that the reason for the shortage was chips who are slow on orders.

Home-turf is obviously easier and quicker to implment. MS is doing lots of cool new things with the xbox franchise that work so well, except with the non-mandatory hard drive.

So give them time. and if it works well and support is given, the market will expand. Email your love with the idea and tell them where you want to put your money.

Maybe you can do online vendors that support the card? the have them ship overseas. I dunno

I assume you have to be a Gold subscriber. Fine with me, because the reasons for me to stick to being a Gold subscriber are getting kinda slim, with Silver out. �40 JUST for online multiplayer and video chat?!?! Doesn't seem to be worth it, in my opinion. But with added bonuses such as exclusive downloads and luxury treatment, such as the Diamond card, it seems worth it now. And it's free!!

First, they would have to make deals with retailers throughout canada before they can offer the card for canadians. Xbox live is global. I'm sure they have other countries in mind... but first, they have to support their home turf.

the thing with canada is that it falls under the us umbrella. our release dates are the same for all games, launch consols, etc. canada could almost be considered another state with slightly higher prices. So when the us gets stuff that canada doesnt in reguards to video games it really pisses people off :S.

very dissappointed, there are more xbox live players per capita in Canada and yet once again we get screwed :S

this is a brilliant way to get live subscribers. I can easily see these discounts paying for teh live subscription, or at least a huge chunk of it. And games are so expensive to rent, being able to rent 2 for 1 is great.
