Since the implementation of the latest version update on Dec. 12, 2005, several gameplay and system related issues have been discovered. Solutions to these issues are now being tested. Players will be informed as soon as solutions are finalized.
The following issues have been discovered:
- The list of rewards for the "Waking Dreams" quest did not appear properly.
* This has been addressed during the Dec. 13, 2005 3:15(PST) area maintenance.
- If the beastmaster ability "Charm" is used on a monster while the monster is disappearing because it was outside its normal radius, the monster may become invisible in some instances.
=> Although the pet monster may appear invisible, it will act like a normal pet monster.
- The help message that displays under "Party" within "Seek Member" in the main menu has not been updated to accommodate the change after the version update.
=> The resulting list is functioning as stated in the update details.
Following is an additional information which was excluded from the Dec. 13, 2005 (JST) Update Details:
- Wyverns will now have the equivalent of the job trait "Subtle Blow," reducing the amount of TP gained by opponents from the wyvern's attacks.

The quest to obtain an avatar long awaited by summoners will soon be available. The terrestrial avatar Diabolos made his first appearance in "Darkness Named," and now those able to defeat him at the height of his strength will learn to harness the power of dreams.
The Blood Pact abilities of Diabolos are quite unique when compared to those of other avatars. We have provided a list of Diabolos's abilities with brief explanations; however, we would like to allow summoners the chance to discover the full scope of these powers on their own.
Matsuno-san was not demoted, but rather stepped down due to an illness that hes been battling for some time, according to sources in the Japanese press. Matsuno-san continues to be a driving force on the title, however, as the original scenario plot supervisor, working under Ito, Minagawa and Kawazu. Still, for the first time ever, a Final Fantasy title will be set in a world SquareEnix has visited before; in this case, that world is Ivalice, the world in which Matsuno-san set both of his Final Fantasy Tactics titles. SquareEnix insists that FFXII will not be a carbon copy of the world of Ivalice already explored, but a new part of that world entirely. According to Matsuno-san, Ivalice is a huge world and the previous FFTs have only shown us a small part of it.
MPK (Monster Player Kill) is a form of player harassment that has plagued many MMORPGs. MPK involves using one's character to purposely cause damage to other players or to unfairly take another's claimed target in the midst of battle. Several measures will be introduced in the next version update to counter these issues.
The upcoming measures are intended to deal with issues regarding the acquisition of items and claiming of monsters, rather than focusing on direct involvement in player disputes.

Halcyon glanced around the dock but saw nothing that appeared threatening. There were two San dOrian knights standing watch in case of trouble, but other than that there were just groups of passengers filing through customs. The two knights finished their business with a group of Tarutaru and turned toward him and his brother. He looked over to the Galka and leaned in conspiratorially.
Our other new goody for today is a new columnist, by the name of Tigg. He brings to us his column, aptly named Tigg's World. His first article comes to us, with the name In the beginning. Sounds curious, no? Here's a snippet:
After bad experiences with a certain other MMORPG, i was hesitant to even try the Final Fantasy XI game, Oh my God they ruined the game, is all I could think. However, being the rpg collector that I am, I purchased the PS2 HDD package anyway, whos collection would be complete without this installment to the FF franchise. After a few days of staring at the unopened box, I decide to give it a go.
Also, one last note. My vault e-mail's working once more, so it's okay to send your stories and such to vyndameer@vaultnetwork.com . C'mon, I know you're out there! More to come soon!

As we enter the game, we are thrown into the role of Cecil, Dark Knight of the nation of Baron, on his way home from a mission crucial to his Lord. Despite his ominous appearance, Cecil is a noble knight sworn to protect those in need who is torn in a moral struggle -- he has been charged by his Lord to retrieve a crystal from a neighboring nation using any means necessary. The only problem is that in order to complete his mission, he has to slaughter innocents standing in his way. As Cecil returns and voices his concerns to the King, he is demoted, but not without company; his comrade Kain, stands by his side. Together, they are punished and sent out to deliver a ring to a nearby city.
Todyma looked around at everyone as Father told the story. It would have made a really good song. Too bad Mother never told her about all this. She hummed a few bars experimentally and tried to put the words to music. She frowned. It would take a lot of work to get it sounding just right. Shed have to finish the song before she met Mother again. Then she could let Mother hear the song.
As mentioned in the recently released Topics article regarding the Fellowship system, the simultaneous display of characters on screen is limited due to memory restrictions on the client side, which created fears that such expansive battles would create too great of a processing burden. However, the FINAL FANTASY XI Development Team made player enjoyment the main priority, and worked hard to make Dynamis a reality. As of now, countless players have ventured to Dynamis, but the extraordinary difficulty of the areas makes return trips a necessity.
The demos opening sequence was stunning, a beautifully detailed CGI movie depicting the story conflicts and central characters. The series moves to a new world called Ivalice, a place where airships fill the skies and magic is as common as breathing. The story centers on a small kingdom refusing to be consumed by the ever-growing Archadian Empire. At times the introductory CGI animation was so realistic that I swore I was watching a cast of living actors. But no, this was a game, beautifully rendered in detailed splendor, giving LucasFilm a run for its money.
