November 22, 2005 - EA and DICE announced today the release of Battlefield 2: Special Forces, the expansion pack to the highly-regarded modern combat multiplayer FPS released earlier this year. The game is shipping to retail outlets today in addition to download via EA's digital distribution website.

In the expansion, players will have the ability to play as the "operators" of various real-life global special operations units including US Navy SEALs, British SAS, and Russian Spetsnaz in addition to specialized MEC units and insurgent groups. The game will feature 10 new vehicles and new equipment such as grappling hooks, zip lines, and night vision goggles for nighttime missions.

Seeing as how none of us here at IGN could even make it past the first day of special operations training (heck, basic training would probably be a challenge), we are very much looking forward to getting our hands on this one.
