November 3, 2005 - Though Nintendo didn't make Metroid Prime Hunters playable at the company's gamers summit today (yet), NST did make available a brand new trailer that showed how well the project's evolved since last we saw it.
The trailer showed quick cuts of single-screen action that displayed a much more fleshed out Metroid experience. The game will clearly have a more elaborate single player experience, complete with the more familiar exploration portion. The quick clips showed off some morph ball puzzles where players will have to follow Samus through under-ice tunnels and other caverns.
Of course, Metroid is also about charging up those blasters and laying waste to the alien badguys, and the press demonstration showed a lot of those situations. Along with some one-on-one fights and huge full arena boss battles, there will be plenty of lesser foes to shoot as well - the video showed some instances where the screen will be filled with enemies to exterminate.
The graphic engine is still looking great, pushing a ton of detail and speed all the while maintaining a smooth framerate. The demo showed off a couple instances of pre-rendered full-motion video, as well as some real-time dynamic cutscenes to set the stage.
We'll have the demonstration video online later today.
