The Sims Cheats

If you're reading this, then that probably means that you've picked up something some people refer to as digital crack. Yes, The Sims. The game and its associated add-on packs have sold a nearly innumerable amount on the PC, and now it's playable in your living room. You may want to go ahead and move your refrigerator in there as well, just as a helpful reminder to eat every now and then.

The Sims is such an open and endless game that you'll still be figuring things out on your own even after receiving all the help and info in the world. But that's the beauty of it. While a large portion of the game is about experimenting and trying different things out, this guide should at least give you a run-down of everything you'll need to get you started.

The console version adds a single-player story mode that the PC version didn't have. While the play mechanics are still the same, you'll have specific goals that must be completed. Finish those goals, and you'll move into bigger and supposedly better houses while meeting plenty of interesting Sims to socialize with.

This guide is here to make sure you don't let your Sims burn in a kitchen fire, pee on the new carpet or pass out in the middle of the road from lack of sleep. The guide will also help you find your Sims a job, build and upgrade their abode, and generally live healthy lives. You'll also find a complete walkthrough for the new Get a Life mode and a list of everything you can unlock while playing it. Grab yourself a 60oz soda, a large bag of chips and get reading. Just don't forget to use the toilet every now and then.

This guide now features a downloadable PDF... to help you do just that! Instead of dragging your computer into the living room (or heaven forbid, the bathroom), you can download it, print it and take it anywhere you want. Get the guide here.

Hint: Busy As A Monkey
There is a better way to keep your monkey butler longer than just to put a fence around his tree. Put a light on the wall an wait for it to burn up. Then immediately put a table, nightstand, or desk in front of it making it impossible to replace the bulb. The monkey will not be able to finish the task and stands around until there's something else to do.

Hint: Alone In Your Unabomber Style Shack
Keeping a Sim's social meter up can be a nightmare. A good way to avoid this is to make the outgoing trait as low as possible (mine are usually zero). A shy Sim may take longer making friends, but an outgoing Sim constantly needs companionship (which takes up a LOT of time). With this trait at zero, once you fill up the Social meter, you can go three or four days without a visit from ANYONE!

Also, for me, the most difficult ability to fill is Body. If you make your Sim's Active trait high, they'll take to the treadmill like a duck to water. You can also guarantee that watching the Action channel on the TV will always provide some fun. Making Active high works well if you want your Sim in the military.
