Trick or Treat? Print News | Mail News Master, Master!
Vana'diel has been on fire with goldfish scooping, dancing,
and wild buffalos! But all that's over now, kupo! No more
trouble, and no more heat! But don't you miss all the
activity, actually? Aren't you itching for more excitement?
I have some information fresh from the M.H.M.U. (Mog House
Management Union) that just might scratch that itch, kupo!
Harvest time in Bastok, San d'Oria, and Windurst is now
over, and a bone-chilling, fearsome festival is in the
works! The towns will use the festival as a means to
express their enormous thanks to the adventurers for the
safety they bring, and provide a means of revenge for the
ever-so-few trifling troubles they cause.
That's right, kupo! It's the third incarnation of the
Harvest Festival!
The other details given to me are vague because
apparently, the festival planners didn't want any
information leaked to the adventurers, kupo! Luckily, the
M.H.M.U. had a few secret agents planted at their meetings!
Apparently, there will be more than just the typical
monster costumes! A certain hazardous-looking decoration(*)
devised by the engineers of Bastok is scheduled to make an
appearance. Oooh, scaaary... I'm shaking in my fur, kupo!
The planners have also set up patrols during the preparation
for the festival, so they must be hiding more spine-tingling
secrets!
Do you like playing tricks? Then I have good news for you,
kupo!
It seems they are planning to give away special costumes.
Adventurers will roam the streets wearing the costumes and
approach wary passers-by with calls of "Trick or Treat?"
What will the moogles be doing, you ask?
Eating candy and playing tricks, of course, kupo!
When questioned, Raibaht shouted, "What do you mean, 'It
looks dangerous!?' Cid's inventions tend to have a unique
look to them, but this was made from the same technology
that allows airships to fly at great heights. It's
perfectly safe!" I think I made him angry, kupo...

San d'Oria, or Windurst.

Since the implementation of the latest version update on Oct. 10, 2005, several gameplay and system related issues have been discovered. Solutions to these issues are now being tested. Players will be informed as soon as solutions are finalized.
The following issues have been discovered:
-An issue where the screen would blackout upon entering Lower Jeuno from Rolanberry Fields.
*This screen blackout can be prevented by entering into Lower Jeuno at the center of the zone line from Rolanberry Fields.
-The item "Safety Mantle" appears to be equippable in the "waist" slot instead of the "back" slot.
-Mistakes were found in the following synthesizing recipes, as well as the recipes given by the NPCs from the guild:
A new Chains of Promathia region known as "Limbus" is now available for
exploration.
"Temenos" and "Apollyon" the two areas within the region, can be accessed
after meeting certain requirements. These areas have no relation to the conquest
results, and will not be displayed under "Region Info."
*Limbus
The areas of Temenos and Apollyon are divided into several different routes.
Each separate route can be entered by a party/alliance (maximum of 18 people)
and occupied exclusively for a pre-determined length of time.
*Entering Limbus
The following requirements must be met before Limbus can be accessed:
Ability to travel to Al'Taieu
Be in possession of two specific key items
Three days have passed since your last foray into Limbus
*Obtaining the Key Items
One of the key items necessary for entering Limbus can be obtained after
fulfilling the conditions set by a certain NPC. The second key item is
obtainable by defeating a certain monster within the Al'Taieu area.
There are several different types of key items, with each item corresponding to
a specific area and route. These key items will be lost upon entering Limbus,
but can be reacquired after a set period of time has passed.
Certain types of treasure obtained from defeating monsters in Limbus can be
traded to a new NPC for items.
The following changes have been made to the Fellowship (NPC called with a signal
pearl) system:
-Several quests that raise the level limit, etc. of your adventuring fellow have
been added.
-The variety of weapons and armor available to your adventuring fellow has been
expanded.
-The behavior of adventuring fellows has been adjusted.
-More options have been added to the Rendezvous Point menu.

adventuring fellow have been changed as follows:

Tachi -> Nodachi
-New adventuring fellow combat styles have become available.
-Your adventuring fellow will now have an HP bar displayed when called into the
field.
-The areas where an adventuring fellow can be called have been expanded.
-An action command window is now available when targeting your adventuring
fellow. The menu contains the following options:
Talk
Magic
Abilities
Items
Trade
Disband
During the lost chocobo quest, the time spent riding will now be displayed after
entering each new area.
There are now more items available through mining or harvesting in the following
areas:
West Sarutabaruta/Yuhtunga Jungle/Yhoator Jungle/Giddeus/Zeruhn Mines/Korroloka
Tunnel
The one-way door in the entrance to the Grand Palace of Hu'Xzoi will now be
accessible from both sides after progressing in the Chains of Promathia story.

Triple Story Whammy Print News | Mail News You're all in for a real treat today. We've got not one, not even two, but THREE new additions to existing stories today. First up on the list is Abriel's Corsage, with, in her own words, "Chapter 12! Yay!" It's entitled Feelings and Parting Gifts, and you're sure to enjoy it. Here's a snippet:
Halcyon pursed his lips in thought. He knew what was coming next. He and Neroma had lived this story from this point on. Theyd been in the same defense squad as Emodi and Ahmela seven years ago. Theyd fought beside them and lived with them for five years. Then, the two lovers had left them for Bastok.
Next up, Alban returns! Huzzah! We've got the next installment of From Boy to Legend, called The Beginning, of A New Ending. Here's a preview:
Learont rode in his carriage, with Serena leaning on his shoulder, sleeping. He had his eyes closed, trying to focus on events elsewhere. He could feel that the evil no longer lingered in Delkfutt. He let out a huge sigh, having lost another devout follower. He felt the presence of another being enter the carriage, which disturbed his thoughts.
And lastly...After taking way too long, I finally have for you the next chapter of Hero of Bastok! That's right, Chapter 28 is here, named The Ark Angels. I'm sorry it took me long, please don't come after me with an angry mob, I promise the next one will be faster! ; ; Here's a preview:
Floating high above Vanadiel, a mere dot to those on the ground, sat the Zilart creation known as TuLia. Sitting at the center of the floating island was a large structure built like a palace. This was known as VeLugannon Palace, and it was deep within its halls where Ealdnarche waited. The Crystal Warriors stood statuesquely behind him, awaiting his orders. Ealdnarches face was illuminated by a strange machine, which was displaying images. The images currently before him were that of Vyn and his friends, just after Fafnirs defeat. SoIt would seem the Galka has returned the Zilart muttered.
We have experienced several technical difficulties on some areas on the Cerberus World, but the recovery process is now complete. Thank you for your patience.

Nintendo's DS press conference in Japan today provided Square Enix with the perfect opportunity to solidify some of its recent moves with the Final Fantasy series. We were most interested in learning what is up with DS Crystal Chronicles and all the Final Fantasy port projects now in development.
First off, the ports. The first two FF games are already available in one package for the Game Boy Advance. An updated version of part IV was recently announced, also for the Game Boy Advance. So that leaves III, V and VI as the pre-VII Final Fantasy games that are still screaming for a revival.
Final Fantasy III was announced for the DS months ago, but today Square Enix showed that the game is more than just vaporware. The company shared a trailer for the game showcasing, surprisingly, 3D visuals for both characters and fields, a far cry from the original's 8-bit graphics.
We got to take a look at Square's first offering for Microsoft's new console, the massively multiplayer FFXI. Though it's been on the market for a while, FFXI has proven successful and should be a very solid addition to any future 360 playing MMO fan's collection. The game we saw was running on a live server, with lots of chatter and yelling filling up the scroll bar at the bottom. The setup had a keyboard plugged in to the 360 unit to make it easy to respond and ask questions. Read the Rest...
