Weekend Box Office
The race for second place was seriously tight with DreamWorks' latest
computer-animated comedy, Madagascar, bringing in approximately $61
million and the new Adam Sandler/Chris Rock comedy, The Longest Yard,
earning around $60 million over the long weekend.
In less lofty territory, the Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda comedy, Monster-in-Law, fell from second to fourth this weekend with just over $11 million. Universal's Kicking and Screaming was fifth in its third week of release. The Will Ferrell starrer brought in around $6.5 million. Crash, from director Paul Haggis, fell from fourth to sixth with right around $6 million. Nicole Kidman's thriller, The Interpreter, ended the four-day period with $2.6 million and seventh place. The eighth spot went to Jet Li's Unleashed, which made approximately $2.3 million. Ridley Scott's crusades epic, Kingdom of Heaven, slid to ninth with around $2.2 million. Rounding out the top ten this weekend, the hottie-filled horror flick House of Wax made $1.6 million.
