Close Combat: First to Fight comes to the PC a week ahead of schedule, but perhaps hold off rushing to buy it until it's rated by a few more reviewers, especially as it received a 2.8 from OXM, and an 8.0 from IGN. Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition will hopefully be a continuation of the quality seen in the first two Rockstar editions, but once again there are no reviews. Then there's Jade Empire, probably the best CRPG to date (9.9 from IGN) and probably the most anticipated - personally can't wait to get my hands on it.

DVDs and movies don't do much for me this week, though I'm sure Knight Rider: Season Two will be popular here in Germany.

What will you be spending your money on in the week ahead?

Need for Speed Most Wanted Announced 09:56 am - Andrew Burnes - Games: Racing BERJAYA
Leaking out of EA this weekend is a press release announcing Need for Speed Most Wanted:

Combining the thrill of illicit street racing and tuner customization with the intensity of strategic police pursuits that rivals any Hollywood-style chase scene, Need for Speed Most Wanted challenges players to become the most notorious and elusive street racer.

"Out-race your opponents, evade cops and exploit the open world in Need for Speed Most Wanted; street racing doesn't get any better than this," said Larry LaPierre, senior producer, EA Canada. "Players instantly will feel the thrill of the ride as they hit the streets in an open world environment where drivers can tune their cars to compete against any class of vehicles or use their wits to out-fox the law to satisfy their need for speed."

Need for Speed Most Wanted delivers a unique, fast-paced and gripping ride in the racing genre as players build up their Rap Sheet and street cred to move their way up the Black List to become the most wanted racer on the streets. Players will go head-to-head with the top drivers on the scene as well as strategically evade more than half dozen cops at any one time. Add in a dynamic open world, new gameplay and customization as well as tuners, supercars, muscles and sports cars and Need for Speed Most Wanted will be on every gamer's "must-have" list.

Developed in Vancouver, B.C. by EA Canada, Need for Speed Most Wanted will be available for a next generation console as well as the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, Xbox videogame system from Microsoft, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance, PSP handheld entertainment system and PC.

Hot Pursuit always was my favourite, so it's nice to see a return to that style of gameplay.

I can appreciate a great game like everyone else, but what's up with the almost weekly near perfect score reviews popping up? It's almost at a point where I'm not impressed any longer because people hand them out like candy. Perhaps it's time to (cliche inc!) raise the bar as far as a grading scale goes because it's getting out of hand. I'm almost desensitized to seeing a 9.5+ score, because I play the same game and it turns out to be a 8.5-8.9 experience. Not that an 8.5 is bad by any means, but it isn't the sort of epic memorable adventure that a 9.5 is, is it?

Today's question:

List the last five 9.5/10 caliber games you've played
