Our first Ultimate Collection story comes from Jay W.

Only worthy collectable I have is Patrick Roy's autograph. Story of how I got it was my uncle used to work for a sports store in Montreal, back when Roy played for the Habs of course. Roy has always been my favorite player, and I wanted to go so bad. My uncle had to go to Roy's house to give him some equipment or something. I begged and begged my uncle to go, and he finally let me come with him. So I went out and bought the first Patrick Roy poster I could find and brought it with me.

When we go there, I was so nervous. The closer we got to the door, the more nervous I got. Most people never get a chance to meet their idol, but I was about to. Roy greeted us at the door and I shook his hand, but I couldn't say a word. We went inside, and my uncle showed Roy the new equipment.

We were in the basement, and Roy had a rink down there. It wasn't made of ice, but that plastic ice. He let me play on it, and he donned the pads and I took a couple of shots on him. I scored on him once, but I think he let me. After we played for a bit, I was able to get his autograph.

The whole time I was there, he was really nice to us. He didn't come off as the egomaniac the media has always portrayed him as.

It was such an amazing experience, and one I will never forget.
