At the core of the company were Acclaim Studios. With locations in Austin, Texas, Salt Lake City, Utah, Glen Cove, New York (Acclaim Entertainment), and two facilities in the U.K., the studios employed more than 400 professionals. Acclaim also published comic books (Acclaim Comics, formerly known as Valiant) and operated motion capture studios.

A publisher for all major platforms, including GameCube, PS2, Xbox, PC, and Game Boy Advance, Acclaim ran into financial problems with this last generation of consoles. Rushed follow-ups to once popular franchises failed to sell and even critically acclaimed games like BurnOut didn't find an audience.

Acclaim finally filed for Chapter 7 in late 2004, liquidating its assets. The corporate brand was dissolved completely.
