Maybe 'coz the demo give you everything right at the start? It might be cool when you start as a noob in game, slowly you level up get stronger, customize your own style etc. I believe no matter how, it's gona be better than fable in anyway.

Im not judging the entire game on the demo, just the combat system. I understand the demo wasnt a fair representation of the story and RPG elements of the "entire" game. Also it is 90% unlikely that anymore optimization (as far as framerate) has been done to the game...The only game (consoles especially) that has had a drastic performance change between the Demo and gold version was Riddick, the demo for that game ran like crap but was fixed in the final version.

Again Im willing to give the combat another try, Im just not as enthusiastic about it as I was before.

Very well, but you are forgetting several things about releases in particular with the demo in question. Firstly, most games (to include demos) are completed months before their release which would suggest that the Jade Empire demo was made months before it was released a month ago. If this is true, the demo would definitely represent a much earlier build of the game even though it was just released a month ago. Secondly, since most games are completed months before release, those prerelease months are used for alpha and beta testing. So, though one month may seem like not much time to us gamers, that time is very crucial to developers in that they really finalize alot of things such as fix glitches, slowdowns, etc. Demos usually don't show the product after such testing and corrections have been made, and thus, demos usually are still considered "works in progress". Lastly, this demo was too short to be able to judge the entire game on.

So, once again, I am going to wait and see the game, before I shape my opinion on it. I have learned my lesson from past games where I based my opinions before the game was playable. In those cases, I was always wrong.

Think of it this way...you are playing an enhanced kotors battle system. How's that? if we manage to play kotor and like it...why not jade empire? jade empire is simply having better animation and bit more real time combat.

cool. i never play demos, cause demos are usually made like 6months or more before the game is out. The game is never fully optimzied, quite often there are major slowdowns, glitches, bugs, etc they are usually minimized or gotten rid of by the time the game is released.
Since it is Bioware, i imagine the game has been optimized as much as it can.

I realize what kind of Game it is, Ive been a fan of Bioware since Baldurs Gate (the PC rpg). I was assuming this game was going to be more akin to turn based combat. I like the more reflex type games as well (im currently playing through Ninja Gaiden), but im just not digging the combat style they went with....and really they shouldve put out a better demo with more game elements in it.

Really my main gripe with the combat system was that it was hard to tell when the enemy was blocking and when you would land a hit.

All im saying is that this game just went from buying status to rental for me.

anyway ebm62980 i think you need to reconsider , the demo just show the combat system. Remeber..this is a RPG game...not devil may cry nor god of war. You don't expect that kind of fast pace action.

April 12th...not 14 anymore. Probabbly they change it 'coz this game world is set in ancient myth china...well as a chinese 14th is not a good number 'coz it sound identical to "sure dead" / "death is a must". The older generation will simply avoid using this number for any purposes. BTW, 4 sounds identical to death.

I goto say kudos to bioware, they are bunch of white skin people but they manage to create game that is so accurate (almost) like you are walking in the last century china...the asian theme is so strong in this game, music graphics environment. Make no mistake, doing this is not an easy job when you are a stranger to one culture.

I can't wait for this game. Been a fan of bioware neverwinter nights and kotors.

If you played the demo like me and wanted more it is my sort of game.

The game play is very good and i got no slow down at all.

You only get 1 fight in the demo and it is a demo not a full game.

I will love this game unlike some who dont like this sort of game.

After playing the demo Im not really interested in this game anymore. The combat was to clunky, I couldnt tell when I would hit the creature, and there was some massive slowdown when the graphics already arent that impressive.
