 A bit earlier than planned, the updated playable demo for Empire Earth II has been released to add multiplayer support to this sample of the imminent 3D RTS sequel by Mad Doc Software. This release adds the King of the Hill skirmish mode to the Three Crowns map of the previous single-player demo, and now also features multiplayer on the Jungle Kings level with the same three civilizations (Americans, Germans, or Koreans), epochs (Renaissance, Imperial, and Enlightenment), and modes (Conquest, King of the Hill and Territory Control) as before.

| This Sunday's catch-up addition is FIFA 97, the June 1996 installment in the long-running soccer sports series by EA Canada. Our game section for this title is now online, serving up the playable demo that contains a friendly match between England and Germany.

 Our bonus catch-up entry today is of course FIFA Soccer 96, the first soccer sports game with 3D replay mode by EA Canada that came out way back in May 1995. Our game section for this title is also online, but as a demo doesn't appear to be available anymore we only have a few screenshots for download and online viewing to show what it looked like.

 Today's extra bonus catch-up addition is Cabela's 4x4 Off-Road Adventure, the first budget-priced offroad driving game that was released some four years ago by FUN Labs and Activision Value. Our game section for this title is online too, offering a collection of officially released screenshots for download and online perusal, along with the version 1.2 patch to correct a variety of bugs in the retail game.

| Atari Korea has recently released a playable demo for DRIV3R, offering a chance to try out the new action racing sequel by Reflections Interactive. This humongous demo supports English and no fewer than seven international languages, and contains the "Booby Trap" mission set in Nice as well as the "Tanner Escapes" mission situated in Istandul, complete with extensive cutscenes.

| Sparta - Ancient Wars is a recently unveiled 3D real-time strategy game set in ancient Greek history that's under construction at Burut.  25 To Life is a urban third-person shooter in the works at Ritual Entertainment and Eidos Interactive where you can experience some gritty action on both sides of the law. Our game section for this title is now online, serving up a collection of officially released screenshots for download and online perusal, as well as a pair of movie trailers (one also available in high-res) to introduce the game's premise and features in several minutes of cutscene and gameplay footage.

| Hot on the heels of yesterday's patch, Mad Minute Games has issued a correspondingly updated SDK version 1.11 for Take Command 1861 - 1st Bull Run, their 3D real-time Civil War strategy game that's also known as Civil War: the Battle of Bull Run. The SDK allows you to create new scenarios and modify existing ones, tweak much of the game data, and more.

| In a surprise release, 3D Realms sends along the source code for Shadow Warrior, allowing you to tinker with their 1997 first-person shooter. Compiling the source will require Open Watcom 1.3 for Windows, and while the release is unsupported, it falls under the terms of the GPL (GNU Public License).

| Digital Extremes has released a new movie trailer for Pariah, again showing their upcoming sci-fi first-person shooter in motion. This high-resolution clip introduces the plasma gun in half a minute of frantic gameplay footage.

| Electronic Arts has released two new movie trailers for Battlefield 2, the modern 3D multiplayer action sequel under construction at Digital Illusions. The first clip sports a bit under a minute of action-packed ground combat footage (along with extensive logos), while the third and final part of the interview with executive producer Scott Evans is also available.

| As promised, Activision Value has released the first patch for Take Command 1861 - 1st Bull Run, a.k.a. Civil War: the Battle of Bull Run, updating the 3D real-time Civil War strategy game by Mad Minute Games to version 1.1. This release adds a new map titled "The Battle of Morgan Hill," support for 1024x768 resolution, and more than four dozen improvements, bug fixes and other changes as detailed in the release notes.

| Ubi Soft Entertainment has issued an alternate executable for Cold Fear, the new third-person survival horror action game by DarkWorks. Word is: "This file is not a patch. The Alternate executable is for those who are having trouble launching Cold Fear. The problem manifests itself as an error message, or if nothing happens when launching the game. If you are not having any trouble playing Cold Fear, there is no need to download this file."

| A playable demo for Imperial Glory is now available, giving you the chance to try out the historical 3D real-time strategy game in the works at Pyro Studios. This demo contains an easy difficulty battle in the Hannover area and a medium difficulty battle set in Cyrenaica, along with a brief slideshow about the management part of the game, and a naval battle video. The original download needlessly contained a DirectX 9 distribution, so our copy is 34 MB smaller by removing that.

| DreamCatcher has released a playable demo for Aerial Strike: the Yager Missions, the US title of the sci-fi flying action game by Yager Development that's long been known as, simply, Yager. The demo's content is identical to the version 5.20 demo for Yager that came out on October 3, 2003, so if you don't remember what that was like this might be an incentive to try it again.

| A new patch for Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is now available to upgrade the European, French Canadian, and Australian editions of the stealthy third-person shooter sequel by Ubi Soft Montreal to version 1.01, in sync with the recent US update. As before, this release addresses several game crashes, corrects various networking issues, fixes a couple of profile bugs, and implements other improvements.

| There is a new movie trailer for Guild Wars to show more of the fantasy 3D multiplayer online role-playing game being beta tested at ArenaNet. This high-res clip comes in two image qualities, stringing together two minutes of in-engine segments.
