March 30, 2005 - Reuters reports that Chinese star Gong Li will star alongside Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx in writer-producer-director Michael Mann's feature film version of Miami Vice.

Li will portray "Isabella, the Chinese-Cuban wife of the leader of a transnational crime syndicate and Crockett's love interest." Reports surfaced online earlier this month that Li had won the role.

Farrell plays detective Sonny Crockett opposite Oscar-winner Foxx as his partner Ricardo Tubbs.

Gong Li's credits include Raise the Red Lantern and Eros. She'll next be seen in Memoirs of a Geisha.

In related news, a reader advised us that "Michael Mann and other crew members for the upcoming film Miami Vice have being [sic] visiting Paraguay two weeks ago, specifically in the city of Ciudad del Este, in the border with Brazil." There are scenes in Mann's script that take place in Haiti and Cuba so perhaps Paraguay will double for there?
