You ask, we make stuff up.

I think the ps2 is a great system but Sony and Microsoft need to be more original. When Nintendo comes out with new systems, the make genuine names, im getting tired of this xbox2, ps3, ps2. point....... BE ORIGINAL

--Chinchilla

Yeah, I hear ya. The names of the machines really screw over my gaming experience. I'm so bummed that when I chillin' in my apartment and playing the ridiculously good God of War that it's on a PS2. Screw Sony for being continuous with their naming conventions and keeping their brand power at the same time as reminding folks in a small way that the PSone games still work on it.

We need something fresh like the GameSlave or the Funkmaster Flex Game Thang 3-Bazillion or the Gizmondo. This idea of selling 80 million consoles around the world is crap, let's move on.

The Reggie-lution Will Be Webcast
Reading your hilarious comments about the ugliness that is Reggie, I can't help but think if you were to ever meet him in real life. I mean, what would you say? Even if the possibility of him seeing your comments are low, the fact is, there is a still a chance. You both work in the game industry, I'm sure Reggie visits IGN from time to time to check up on different stuff. There is always that chance that he'll visit the PS2 Mailbag just to see what the competitor's fanbase has to say, and BAM. "Reggie is a fugly piece of barf. I want to [poo] on him". Just imagine that massive head of his exploding.

--David

The man's a cheerleader for an army of game-starved mascot hunters. It's not like he doesn't already know that his role in all of this is pretty much crap so I doubt that any comments from our side would make him cry at night. If I was getting paid his salary I'd be happy to spout nonsense and feed the hype machine. Someone's gotta do it.

PS3 Errors?

i want to know A) Is Sony working to ensure the PS 3 will not have the same disc read error disaster that that plagued many PS 2 consoles (including the new design which people are starting to get the disc read error in again) and B) Will PS 3 be backwards compatible to play PS 2 games?(cause i have over 200 PS 2 games now and if the system ever goes obsolete and mine breaks down and my games become unplayable i will just snap

--Dan

I sure hope so. While I've been lucky enough to have systems that still work just fine even after a few drops onto hardwood floors I know this has been a problem for others. As for the backwards compatibility, that will be in it.

God of Price War

Hey guys, read your review and saw the video review of God of War and I'll be honest you have convinced beyond any doubt that it kicks major ass. But yet I still have one problem to pick with you guys about the game. Why is it selling for 50 bucks??? I understand that its an absolutely vicious game but Sony always sells their game for their new suggested retail price of 40 bucks. We have gotten kick ass series like Ratchet and Clank and Jak for that price why aren't we getting of God of War for it??

--Javi

This isn't the first time that Sony has gone back on their word. Killzone and GT4 were both priced at $49.99 as well. It looks like most of the titles are being priced at $39.99 and that the extra-special ones with the higher anticipation and extra development dollars will be getting the higher price. With GT4 and God of War Sony would be throwing money away by charging less. As for Killzone...well…money was still tossed around, wasn't it? Not in the right direction, maybe, but it was thrown around.

Escalated

Do you honestly think it's enjoyable for people to watch you pimp out the escalade? You're pressing buttons. You aren't even playing the game! You're going "OH MAN I WANT THAT SCOOP I MUST PRESS X! OH RAD CHECK OUT HOW IT LOOKS NOW! OMG! SWEET!"

--Rob

Is watching someone pimp any ride all that enjoyable? It's just a matter of putting some chrome and paint and some LCD screens every place they'll stick. The results are occasionally not hideous, but the act of watching someone change a car's looks is just one small step away from watching Trading Spaces on TLC. You know that guys are watching this stuff intently because they want some hotness on wheels, but it's really just their inner interior designer that's just wanting to get out. Just put some doilies on the dash and some drapes over the windows and complete the look.

And an Escalade? It's just the same chassis as the Tahoe for some $20,000 more. Buying that is just a statement that you have too much money and don't give a damn about your bank account or anything else, really. I know that people are totally comfortable with their stupidity, but it still blows me away that they're also eager to pay for it as well.

Lookin' Good

I was just wondering where IGN gets it's artwork for the main features on each gaming site's main page. They are obviously not shots from the game itself nor box art. The current ones for God of War and the Predator look great. Love the site, keep up the great work.

--Aa

We often get some art from the companies, but nine times out of ten the images come from some excellent detective work on the part of our developers. Use Google with some smart search words and the world is yours.

Bono or Bonobo?

Okay, not like I hate Bono or anything, but what the hell is he thinking buying Eidos?

Just because you sing a song for the damn Tomb Raider movie doesn't mean u can run the friggin company who owns the franchise.

Bono has lost it. I knew Eidos was going downhill but honestly, all this nonsense...it just looks even worse on them.

Eidos must be desperate, not like they had many good franchises any way, so it's not really a big loss.

As a TR fan, I WAS hoping they'd revive the series and maybe make a GOOD TR game. Because we havent had one since TR2.

Question - Because Bono owns the company now, do you think he will still keep TR PS exclusive? Or will the rumors end up being true about TR7 being on PSP and XBOX2?

What do you guys think?

Eidos wasn't just going downhill, they were going completely down the tubes and were practically begging for a buyout. The word goes out and some blokes with huge piles of money lying around figure that there's still life left in the company and decide to help them out.

And it's not like this is just Bono. There are others involved as well, he's just the most famous. As such, he's probably the least involved in the day-to-day decisions. In fact, he probably doesn't even care all that much. It's not like they can do much worse than Eidos was doing anyway. Get on Da Mic? Crash 'N' Burm? Backyard Wrestling 2? If it weren't for Project: Snowblind I'd have no hard feelings about them disappearing altogether. The prospect of another Tomb Raider game does next to nothing for me.

I just think the investors want a quick way into the gaming market and this is a decent risk to take. Bono sticks his money in and goes off to write new music and all's well.

And out…

So were already hearing the first rumblings from E3. Our hotel rooms are already booked and once again everyone in the industry is groaning about what's about to happen. It's going to be information overload once again as we see more PSP games, PS2 games, and hopefully some rumors about the PS3. And that's just the Sony side. It's going to be nuts and we'll be in the middle of the storm, writing like crazy.

Ah well, time to get some vacation in now while I can. That and listen to more Kasabian. The new album is damn good and I keep listening to it. I need to switch before I burn out. Maybe listen to some M.I.A., but I know I'll be back.
