An Act of War Interview
Sunday, March 20, 2005, 17:25 | Dario
CnC Files has had a chance to interview the team behind the An Act of War mod. The interview discusses various topics and includes over a dozen new screenshots from the (private) 1.2 alpha version. Here's a quote:
What resources are you using to get the units as realistic as possible?
STURM-SHREK: Mainly online resources and books. Anything as up to date as possible. One of our team members has access to Jane's so that has also been a big help. With regards to Iraq, many units and structures are "Iraqi variants" meaning that we made some cosmetic changes to them to make them our own. While trying to maintain a sense of realism I did feel it was important not to get bogged down in stats as we tread-heads often do, so I made sure to stick to more generic things like Super Flanker or give them Arabic names instead of the actual designation. Instead of saying G-6, I used Al-Majnoon; this gives us more options and frees us from the restraints of sticking to book stats.

Another C&C; Vet Leaves EA
Thursday, March 17, 2005, 21:31 | Cypher
Adam Isgreen has announced leaving Electronic Arts Los Angeles, to pursue work with some old friends. Here's the deal:
After spending 2 years out at EA after Westwood was "consolidated", with several abortive attempts to get a new C&C; off the ground, EA and I have
parted ways.
I'm heading back to Vegas to work with the already stellar group of
ex-westwoodians and great new people that make up the staff of Petroglyph.
I'm very excited by what Petro has been doing, and suffice it to say that
C&C; fans will not be disappointed by what's comiing in the future.... =)
The whole EALA adventure made me aware that a "big" company offers no more
stability than any other, and at the end of the day, you should really do
what makes you happy, because if you do great work, chances are you'll have
that stability you're after anyway.
Stay tuned for more news from the Petro front... =)
A-
So there you have it. Another in a line of recent departures from EALA of C&C; (and mock-C&C;) people leaving. Adam, in case you didn't know, was the lead designer on Red Alert, Tiberian Sun and Firestorm, and has contributed to many other Westwood and EA games (most recently as Multiplayer Design Director for Goldeneye Rogue Agent).

Top Story: New Poll!
Tuesday, March 15, 2005, 18:50 | HeXetic
But first, the results of the old poll...
Well, no surprise our good friend the Technician won the poll for uselessness. Sniper asked in the comments thread if anyone had succeeded in destroying a flame tank with an army of technicians.
I set out to make it happen. This is the result.
- Technician Battle
An army of Technicians makes a bold charge against a single Nod flame tank. Will they conquer, or will the net result be barbequeued techie? Watch this movie and find out. DivX encoded. 2:36 run time. Film created from a savegame provided by Nyerguds.
If a 30-MB video file is too much for you to swallow (come on! it has amazing music and editing work!) and you happen to have your Covert Ops CD handy, you can also grab the savegame that Nyerguds provided me with and make your own carnage video. Meanwhile, go ahead and vote in our new poll that asks what you think Mark Skagg's leave of absence will mean for the next C&C. Does it mean C&C is doomed? Or maybe just Red Alert 3? Or maybe it means that I will definitely not get a free cheese sandwich delivered to me at lunch tomorrow.
Watch the glorious technician movie, and then choose your destiny!
