March 16, 2005 - Imagine playing MVP Baseball 2005, A-Rod is up to bat, and you crank the ball out of the park with your very own Yankees controller. Even better, you're a Red Sox fan and you smash the Yankees controller after your arch nemesis takes you deep.

Those are the scenarios that might play out across the country as Mad Catz inked a deal with Major League Baseball to produce customized PS2 and Xbox controllers, complete with team colors and logos, rubber grips, and of course, analog controls, all for a suggested retail price of $29.99.

"We are thrilled to be working with Major League Baseball Properties as our third major sports license," said Darren Richardson, President and CEO of Mad Catz. "The MLB controller line presents us with a great opportunity to offer another set of exciting products at strong price points and to drive incremental sales outside of the traditional holiday selling season."

"Mad Catz has a proven track record of providing gamers with quality video game accessories," said Howard Smith, Senior Vice President, Licensing, Major League Baseball Properties. "Now, with these controllers designed for each and every MLB team, baseball fans nationwide can bring their passion for the game to a new playing field and play their favorite video games with their hometown teams."

Look for the MLB controllers to hit stores this summer, along with other licensed peripherals from Mad Catz, including NFL and NBA controllers.
