March 4, 2005 - Horse racing is big enough in Japan to command multiple yearly game releases, and it seems the PSP is not exempt from the fun. Sony Computer Entertainment has revealed first details on Derby Time, its upcoming PSP horse racing game.
Derby Time is designed for derby fans old and new. The game features real horses and jockeys who appear with their real names. You can set up your jockey's strategy to the most minute of details, then view races in 3D, with an announcer calling the race. Beginners will appreciate the game's "Navigation Mode," which makes it easy to get the hang of things as you play the game, with explanations of all the gameplay systems.
Multiplayer play is included as well. Derby Time has two forms of multiplayer play. Using WiFi, up to nine PSP systems can contribute a total of 18 horses to a race. It's also possible to race other players using data transfer via Memory Stick.
The PSP's first horse racing game is set for Japanese release on 4/21.
