Seeing as how I am IGN's official bitch (and it's a slow news day), I'll pass on word that we've launched a new Planet site: PlanetStacked! WTF is Stacked? It's a poker game, believe it or not. You know, that game with the cards and the money that suddenly became popular with everyone that has a pulse, and some of the undead as well. I'm sure everyone is eagerly awaiting PlanetPokemon or something though; I mean, VE3D readers and poker? Nah...

Gamespy is reporting that Battle for Middle Earth game designer Dustin Browder is leaving EALA to work at Blizzard on a secret project (cough, StarCraft 2, cough):
In regards to Battle for Middle-earth, he said he wasn't completely happy with the game. "I wanted a bit more polish, particularly in the single-player campaign," he said. "I'm not sure if anyone is ever 100 percent happy with the final product, but Battle for Middle-earth was a good game that could have been a bit better."
There have been some rumors coming out of EA that even more of a shakeup with the old Westwood team is coming. Mark Skaggs, who recently announced that a new RTS in the Red Alert universe was in the works, is said to be taking a leave of absense to spend time with his family. There is no official confirmation from EA, but how that pans out remains to be seen. We'll stay on top of it and bring you more details as they become available.

Blizzard announced a new round of bans on Battle.net:
Approximately 4,000 accounts have been closed for various abuses of the Warcraft III ladders, including the use of "loss bots." Blizzard maintains an aggressive stance against cheating of all kind and will continue to ensure that the Battle.net ladders are a fair and safe place to play Warcraft III. The accounts in question have been closed, and the affected players have been barred from ladder play on any account for a period of 30 days. In cases where this is the second instance of abuse or cheating, the accounts have been permanently banned from all ladder play.

Nope, it's not how much money the game is going to make, but VUG sends word that it has signed a deal to publish 50 Cent's Bulletproof. "In everything I do, I play to win," said 50 Cent. "I'm out to destroy the competition and my video game is no different. It's a fantasy version of my life. I plan to shake up the video game world like I did the rap world - I'm pulling no punches with my game." In 50 Cent's video game, which will be revealed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles on May 18 th, 2005, 50 gets caught in a web of corruption, double-crosses and shady deals that lead him on a bloody path through New York's drug underworld. Working with the unlikeliest of allies, the streets heat up as 50 Cent takes on the most dangerous crime families in the city, uncovering an international conspiracy with devastating implications. The streets are watching as 50 Cent blasts his way to the truth.

RPG Dot have whipped up what will probably be one of the last previews of Irrational Games' Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich. Here's a bit to get you started: If you haven't played the original Freedom Force, it's a squad-based real-time strategy game with RPG elements and a vivid comic-book theme. At the start of each mission, players can usually select up to four superheroes from their stable to undertake the mission objectives, saving the world from the latest supervillain. The fully 3D maps are often quite large and full of detail like moving cars and pedestrians and the fully destructible environments and basic physics are great fun - throwing a car at a building to bring it crashing down just never gets old (although there are consequences - you are playing the good guys, after all). Experience points gained can be spent after each mission to improve or buy abilities and Prestige points earned allow you to recruit new superheroes to your roster.

EverQuest 2 Vault have slapped up an interview with Sony Online Entertainment as they go over what else but EverQuest: Sassee: With the first adventure pack set to release in three weeks, players naturally have a lot of questions. One of them is whether or not new spells and abilities will be included in the adventure packs. Can you get more specific on the features included in the $4.99 price of these packs?
Steve "Moorgard" Danuser: There will be new spells, combat arts, and treasure available in the Bloodline Chronicles. The two main zones, the Tombs of Night and the Crypt of T'Haen, change and evolve as you work your way through the storyline. There are instanced areas for soloers and small groups, full groups, and raids. Add in new enemies to face, destructible walls and objects, and new spell effects, and you're getting a significant addition to the game for less than you'd pay for most fast-food combo meals. ;)

GameSpy took a peak at a beta build of Headfirst's Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth:
Unfortunately, our preview code provided a disjointed gameplay experience, so it's still difficult to know what the finished product will offer in terms of pacing and story delivery. Suffice it to say that Headfirst is well on track to capturing the essence of the horrors that lurk in the dark with some great sepia-toned texture work and interesting character models. The locals of Innsmouth all have a rather fish-like quality to their voices, appearance and motion -- something which is very much inline with Lovecraft's stories.

PC Gamer interviewed Perpetual Entertainment's Glen Dahlgren about Star Trek Online:
PCG: The scope of the game sounds amazing. What are some of the biggest obstacles you see in creating the game, and what are your biggest goals for the game?
GRD: The fact that we have two very different dynamics, ship and ground, is daunting. Both will need to be refined and compelling experiences. However, I see the melding of these two dynamics as one of the keystones of the game. Everyone to whom I've described the experience cannot wait to play it.
As to the scope, I'm not so much concerned as excited about the sheer amount of raw material to draw from. I think people will appreciate the ability to revisit elements from their favorite episodes, interact with known characters and races, and live the adventures they've only seen on screen.

For some crazy reason I thought that "The Rock" wasn't going to be the "Marine Guy" in the upcoming "DOOM" movie, but after seeing him on "The Daily Show" last night (where he said the movie was all wrapped up) I suppose he is the main man after all. It was pretty funny seeing John Stewart so excited about Doom as well. I had no idea he was a gamer. Speaking of funny, they showed "Half-Baked" right before it, so today's question is : Best game on Weeeeed? (inspired by John Stewart movie joke). By the way, our email was down much of yesterday - as is/was the ve3d.com domain - so if you sent in something important, make sure to re-send that bad boy in.
