March 03, 2005 - Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett may be teaming up with Brad Pitt and Motorcycle Diaries star Gael Garcia Bernal for a newly developed drama based at Paramount Pictures. The film, Babel, comes from Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and Guillermo Arriaga, the writing-directing team behind the films Amores Perros and 21 Grams.

Today's edition of Variety describes Babel as a film with four interwoven storylines. One is set in Morocco, one in Tunisia, another Japan and the other in Mexico. The story begins when tragedy strikes a vacationing married couple.

Blanchett is still reportedly working out the terms of her deal, which may have changed since she won an Oscar on Sunday, and Pitt is in final talks.

Pitt and Blanchett have never starred in a film together, but they had been previously set to work together on Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain.
