March 4, 2005 - Call of Duty will fight once again, as Activision today officially announced a second console title in the franchise, following last year's Call of Duty: Finest Hour. The publisher expects the new game to arrive this fall.
This time out, Activision has enlisted two internal studios for the project: Gray Matter, the folks behind the Call of Duty: United Offensive expansion on the PC; and Treyarch, known for the two recent Spider-Man console titles.
The Call of Duty franchise was originally born on the PC with Infinity Ward's intense WWII first-person shooter. Console gamers jumped into the fight with Call of Duty: Finest Hour, while PC gamers saw the United Offensive expansion and should see a full sequel as well.
Sadly, Activision isn't saying more about the new console title right now. Given the talent of both studios, we've got reason to be hopeful -- and that'll have to get us through until more details appear. Stay tuned.
