Got a question about FFXI? Post them here! [Post A Comment] - Print News | Mail News As most of you know the iGames event is coming up very soon ( for more details ) and I'll actually be attending the first event. I'll have the opportunity to ask Sage Sundi some questions and I figured why not get some ideas for questions from you folks.
So, if you have any questions you'd like to ask, post them here, and at the end of the week I'll choose the best ones and pass those questions on. The answers will be given live at the event on February 26th, and I'll post a transcript on the site shortly after.
To post your questions, simply reply to the comment thread. There's no limit to the number of questions you can post. The questions should be mainly focussed on FFXI, though other Square-Enix related game questions are acceptable as well.
Hero of Bastok: Chapter 23 Print News | Mail News Okay, so I couldn't get this up yesterday like I planned. But here it is for you today, Ch. 23 of Hero of Bastok. This one's entitled The Summon, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Here's a preview:
He stood alone in darkness, surrounded by emptiness. Wheream I? he questioned, his voice echoing in the emptiness. Come A powerful voice filled the void. WWhat? He was momentarily stunned by the voice, as he could not discern where it had come from. Come to me the voice said again. Who are you? What do you want? He couldnt see anything within the blackness he was wandering through. There didnt seem to be anyone other than him in this strange place. So who was speaking to him?

All Work And No Play Makes Stories Come Slow Print News | Mail News Apologies all around, my computer has decided not to work with me and has been giving me grief >< Anyways, three new treats for you all. First up, a brand new article from Jacquie, and sadly, the last one of hers for awhile. She shall be missed *tear* This article is entitled Are There Enough Tanks?. Here's a preview:
In Final Fantasy XI, Square-enix has provided players with a unique list of jobs that each individual can play based on their interests or personalities. Each job was made to do their own role within the party setting since this is a party based game. Those roles can include, but are not limited to, primary healer, tank, damage dealer in magic and/or attack, puller, enfeebler, etc.
Our other two items for today are the next two chapters of Brin's series, Eternal Mysteries, called Ch. 6 and Chapter 7: The Jungle of Yuhtunga. Here's a snippet of Ch. 6:
Through the beautiful skies the airship rode. On the horizon the sun began to set. Soon, the adventurers would be in the city of Kazham.
Brin looked around.many of these people looked as if this would be their first time to the old village. Most likely they would be out hunting mandragoras. As Brin looked over the side of the airship, he saw that Oboro now sat near Lumiere on the side. It seemed that Oboro had taken a liking to being among the clouds as well.

The development team is currently programming and testing numerous new features that will be added to the next major version update. You can view Shade's section here or by the drop down menu in the screenshot section.
Now for the artist listing for today!.. in the fanart section we have new work from Asrai, Celani, XCL, Diane, Galat, Ives, Jacques, Landale ( who sent in two works, one being a co-op piece with HNB), and Valkyrist. Some new faces and familiar ones in the group.

More New Story Goodness Print News | Mail News We've got a good batch of new story updates for today. First off is the next chapter in Brin's Eternal Mysteries series, Ch. 5. Here's a snippet:
Windurst.a place of magic and wonder. So many mysteries have been uncovered here with many more yet to be known of. It was here that Brin met up with Vide. Already, Brin had been back to San dOria to deliver the stone. The blacksmith was so thankful that he gave Brin a weapon of days long past. A most powerful lance known as Perigine. It was this lance that now stayed upon Brins back.
Next up is Chapter 8 of Blood Red Poet's series, entitled Brothers. Here's a preview:
The night was at a perfect still. Ghelsbas rocky exterior was only bothered by a few chilling gusts of wind. Such breeze gently shook the door of an Orcish hut. A large house with red decorations, drapes and banners, showing it was apart of the empire. In that hut, on its dirt floor, Auricant laid unconscious. His face was stained with his own blood. An oversized copper ring wrapped loosely around his leg. His swords blade laid in pieces, scattered on the ground. The starry night was calm in this part of Ronfaure but not in another.
Lastly, we have the second chapter of Raiden's series, Chronicles of Vana'diel, called Outnumbered and Out of Luck?. Here's a piece:
In bastok market there was a big crowd gathering near the presidents office because of the flare. Iron Eater and president Karst walked out of his office and told everyone they do not know why the flare was launched. Karst, I will go and see what is going on in San Doria and report back said Iron Eater.
The beastmen army was now insight of San Doria. The four were a bit scared but they stayed strong. A flash of lightning struck a near by tree, a fire had broken out. The beastmen army roared with excitement. The fire didnt stay lit for long, as it started raining. It was the start of an omen. Chewy stay here with Rygar and Melkor. Chewy nodded and Raiden ran up the city wall and jumped over into the city.
In the fanart section we have new work from Sabia, a new artist with a summoner piece. Then we have a lovely Elvaan piece from Aura. Ben sent us another Garnet piece. Square-Enix News [Post A Comment] - Print News | Mail News Seeing as how there hasn't been much FFXI news lately, I figure I'd mention a few tid bits I've noticed for other Square-Enix related games.
Over on PS2 IGN they mention something about a "Code Age Project" which was released with Dragon Quest VIII in Japan. It seems to be some sort of manga, for those of you out there interested. For more details you can read up on that article right here.
Also, a new review of the new Fullmetal Alchemist game was put up. Here's a quote.
January 6, 2005 - Last year was the most prolific role-playing season I've ever seen. Between the traditional turn-based stuff, the tactics-style strategy goodness, and the action-oriented hack and slash, there were almost two-dozen RPGs for the PlayStation 2. That's a lot. Remarkably, 2005 looks like it could be even better with Suikoden IV, Xenosaga II, and Return to Arms joining Square Enix's biggest turn of the generation. After all, in a year that will see Kingdom Hearts II, Final Fantasy XII, and Dragon Quest VIII all hit the system before the end of December, you've got yourself quite a metaphorical earthquake.
Lastly, I spotted over on RPGamer some news about Radiata Stories. It seems some new info on races in the game was released, and they had someone translate the info. If you'd like to learn more, you can read the translation right here.
Stories Strike Again Print News | Mail News Two new goodies for you all today. First up, Jacquie comes back with another powerful piece for her column, the Angel Walker. This one is entitled Full Time Worker vs. Full Time Player. Here's a snippet:
The basic idea of the disclaimer that everyone reads before you enter the world of vana'diel makes the point not to let the game affect your life, your friends and your work. The problem with this is the fact that majority of the quests, missions and other such tasks require amounts of hours that not everyone can accommodate to.
The second treat for today is yet another addition to Alacer's growing work, The Last Tavnasian. The sixth installment is here, called The Party. Here's a preview:
Beads of sweat rolled down his head. His blanket thrown on the ground in frustration. Alacer (our protagonist samurai) rolled wildly in his bed unable to fall asleep. His mind was bothered by something he knew not of. But something was definitely wrong. Something about the city. There was something wrong.
Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! Now that they are over things should be getting back on track here.
16 new images in the sections today!
In the fanart section we have new work from Celani, Hail, Ives, Kenshen, Kittymoomin, Kuro, Makaze, Nick, Selkie, Shane, The Ferret, and Ujaja. Then in the comic section we have work from Shibby, Shade, and Diane. Nice work everyone! and sorry for the delay on posting some of them.
The Last Tavnasian: Chapter Five Print News | Mail News For today we have Chapter Five of Alacer's series, The Last Tavnasian. This one is called The Battle Of Zegham Hill. Here's a preview:
I unsheathed my blade and ran at the enemy. Lifting my blade high in the air I flew forward. The Quadav were getting closer by the second, I was able to make out their ugly faces not long afterwards. The officer was running beside me, brandishing a long spear.
New Years Events in Vana'diel Print News | Mail News From Square-Enix and Playonline:

Happy New Year!
------------------------------------------------------------
We would like to wish everyone great fortune and prosperity for the year ahead!
Presently, a family of mythical birds is visiting Vana'diel. According to folklore, these avians will reward those who make them an offering. If you wish to learn your fortune for this year, try trading the birds an item and see what happens!
This feathered family will be in Vana'diel from December 31, 7:00 (PST) to January 9, 19:00 (PST).
------------------------------------------------------------
Looks like we're celebrating the Year of the Rooster the same way as the Year of the Monkey.... who else can't wait until the next Year of the Dragon? ;)
Hero of Bastok: Chapter 22 Print News | Mail News Okay, so with the holidays and everything I didn't have time to finish this by Christmas. Ah well, consider this a late Christmas gift from me to all you readers out there. I present Chapter 22 of Hero of Bastok. This one's called The Bloodlust. Here's a preview, since that title probably has you wondering:
Vyn lay awake in his bed, trying hard not to fall asleep. Ever since his battle with Zeid, the nightmare that signified the bloodlusts awakening had become more intense and more numerous. There were some nights where hed wake up screaming in despair and pain, the images hed seen having been exceptionally powerful. Other nights he couldnt even get to sleep; the nightmare would assault him the moment his eyes closed. He was starting to think Cait had been too optimistic. He didnt think hed be able to continue on like this. Zeid he muttered to the ceiling. Was this how it felt for you? Is this why you wanted to be free so badly? In the darkness, he could almost picture his mentor nodding to him.
Enjoy everyone, and a very happy New Year to you all!
