1.0 GAME OVERVIEW
===============================================================================
*******************************************************************************
1.1 ABOUT MAPLE STORY
*******************************************************************************
As everyone may or may not know, Maple Story is a Korean / Japanese Multiplayer
Online RPG Game created by Wizet. This game can be described as a cute, lovable
2D side scrolling action packed game which many young children as young as
seven, teenagers and possibly adults play this game interactively. The game is
made to be entertaining as well as humorous. However you must be warned that
there are quite a number of perverted people who plays Maple Story (i.e. while
pressing the character up and down in front of a girl repetitively and typing
nasty words which gives an impression of a sex scene). Some guys especially
runs around in Maple Story trying to hook up the numerous amount of girls or
try all sorts of way to date them out. On the other hand some would play the
game just for fun, but a word of advise, don't become a 'mapleholic' (a term
which I created and defined as a person excessively involved with Maple Story
and does not have any or neglect time for any other activities involved in
their daily life routine) as the game can be increasingly addictive.
While playing the game, hunting down and fiercely fighting monsters in the
world of Maple, you eventually have the ability to buy, find or create
equipments. Like an adventurer in a fantasy world, you can explore a totally
new and mysterious world you have never seen, put on the clothes you desire
most and at some point in time attract other players in the process of your
journey. You begin the journey by yourself to explore the wilderness of the
world and through time will meet new friends through hunting and chatting.
Through respect and fame, you may one day become a great leader and will lead
your party to battle and protect the land of Maple from harms way.
The journey begins from Maple Island where you will learn the basic features
of the game and from there head to Victoria Island. From Lith Harbour that
welcomes you from your long and tiring journey from Maple Island, you will run
into such fascinating and unique towns such as Perion the village of warriors,
Ellinia the village of magicians, Henesys the village of bowmen, and Kerning
the city of thieves. You will be given four paths to choose from respectively
(Warrior, Magician, Bowman, Thief) that will define your life in Maple Story as
well as challenging the numerous and difficult quests given by the locals along
your dangerous journey. Are you up to the challenge?

2.5 WORLD MAPS
*******************************************************************************
The world of Maple Story is composed mainly of Maple Island and Victoria
Island. The following list gives an outline description and world map for each
island:
Maple Island
************
Maple Island is the first place in the game where everyone starts their journey
as a beginner. Maple Island is a peaceful island made up of small mushroom
villages, which are composed mainly of shops, houses, and monsters that appear
randomly around in the game. In this Island there is the 'Mushroom Village',
which is the first town of the game where you will learn the basic skills on
using your character, 'Amherst', and finally 'South Perry' the harbour town.

Victoria Island
***************
Victoria Island is one of the main islands in the world of Maple Story, and is
much bigger in size then compared to Maple Island. Victoria Island is made up
of huge towns such as 'Lith Harbour', the entrance to Victoria Island from
Maple Island, 'Henesys', the village of bowmen located on the prairie in the
south, 'Ellinia', the village of magicians located in the deep bright forests
of the east, 'Perion', the town of warriors, located at the rugged highlands up
north, and finally 'Kerning City', the town of thieves at the modern city of
the west. At the center of the Victoria Island lies the mystical tree called
'The World Tree'. The tree provides life to monsters on Victoria's Island and
is made of many terrifying levels of dungeons where many dangerous monsters
lurks and roams around the place.

2.6 GAMING TIPS
*******************************************************************************
[Tip 1] The best enemies to fight and gain experience at the start of Maple
Island are the Shrooms and Orange Mushrooms.
[Tip 2] The best enemies to fight and gain experience at the start of Victoria
Island are the Slimes and Stumps.
[Tip 3] For every level up, you will receive 5 Ability Points, which you can
assign these points by either increasing your HP, MP, STR, DEX, INT or Luk.
[Tip 4] If you find that you keep missing the enemies you are trying to hit
repetitively, try and increase the amount of points towards your dexterity.
[Tip 5] Quests are meant to be enjoyable and at the same time beneficial.
Through Quests you may earn experiences, equipments, items and mesos. Some
places where you can find the quests are located at Lith Harbour, Kerning City,
Perion, Ellinia and Henesys.
[Tip 6] When you are low on Hit Points, it would be wise to find a safe place
and slowly regenerate your health back by standing still. This is so that you
can save losing 10% of your experience points from dying. If your class is a
beginner, then you are exempted from losing the 10% experience points.
[Tip 7] If a place is over crowded with players, you can always change to
another channel and you will still remain in the same place.
[Tip 8] Armors and Weapons without doubt have generally a level requirement of
every 5 consecutive levels.
[Tip 9] Keep plenty of ores you find in the game as they are incredibly rare,
and are mainly needed to make upgrades on armors and weapons.
[Tip 10] Successfully picking an item or killing an enemy for experience points,
you will receive a status of confirmation on the bottom right of the screen.
[Tip 11] Enemies drop various types of items, usually some are common drops and
some are really rare drops. An example for a common drop is a snail shell,
however a rare drop would be an axe. Additionally, each enemy also drops two
different types of ores such as a jewel or mineral ore.
[Tip 12] Speed and power can be a big difference while fighting an enemy.
Looking at an example mathematically, an axe has an Attack Power of 27 but is a
slow weapon however while a Saber may have a much lesser Attack Power of 20, it
is 2.5x faster. The damage will roughly work out the same over time and the
amount of hits caused.
[Tip 13] Swordsmen and Thieves are a lot slower to level as they rely on close
range attacks but are stronger. On the other hand however, Bowmans and
Magicians will level faster as they can attack their enemies from a distance,
however they need to keep up with their MPs and Arrows. So there are pros and
cons for all classes.
*******************************************************************************
2.7 GAMING GUIDE LINES
*******************************************************************************
[Guide Line 1] Try attacking your own enemies by finding a quiet spot and not
killing another person's enemies. If you see someone attacking an enemy that
another person is attacking or someone looting their items while running past
you, it is called 'Kill Stealing'.
[Guide Line 2] Do not abuse any other players by either swearing, advertising
or even threatening them, as it will only get your account suspended. Also if
you are unlucky and are caught in the act, someone may 'screenshot' you and
send the image to the abuse services for suspension justification purposes.
Additionally, hacking Maple Story with modified hacked patches is an offence
and if found may be prone to a suspension for up to 30 days.
[Guide Line 3] If someone is talking to you, it won't harm saying a 'hi' in
return. Don't ignore the other players unless they are irritating you. Try to
be polite with one another and sociologically if there were no socialising
involved in the game, it would be boring.
[Guide Line 4] Don't be a pervert running after the opposite sex in the game
asking for sex. With some anthropological research conducted by myself, it was
noticed that several guys runs after girls in the game asking for their e-mail
or friendster addresses, and mostly at times for their mobile numbers. However,
surprisingly some guys and girls do find love with one another over Maple
Story.
[Guide Line 5] The fame function in Maple Story allows you to raise or drop
another character's fame once a day, which you must at least be at level 15+ to
do this. You can only raise or drop a level of fame of the same character every
once a month. Running around and lowering someone's fame without a valid reason
is just plain childish.
[Guide Line 6] Do not whatsoever drop an item, as someone may swiftly swipe
your belongings. If you are lucky, the person may kindly return your item but
most of the time this never happens.
[Guide Line 7] When trading with other players, kindly ask if they would like
to trade with you. Do not start a trade with someone in the hope of getting
free items or for the sake of trading rare stuffs for common stuffs.
Anthropologically seen, some girls are really good at trading while asking
several guys to be their 'Maple boyfriend'. They would argue that since they
are their boyfriend, the guy should give them free stuffs. Sometimes you may
never see your 'Maple girlfriend' ever again after the trade has been done.
[Guide Line 8] Making a party and inviting unknown random players (not counting
friends) in the game to help fight battles in the game is something to think
about carefully. Why should people sacrifice their hard earned experiences and
mesos while you idle around? However if you are willing to fight along then a
team may be of beneficial.
[Guide Line 9] Adding a person on your buddy list randomly is sometimes not
polite. Do ask the person politely if she or he would like to be added.
[Guide Line 10] Like every other player in the game, be careful not to tell or
give out your personal information to anyone you do not known for security
reasons. You never know who may be playing the game.
*******************************************************************************
2.8 HACKING
*******************************************************************************
Hacking is defined as unauthorised use of computer and network resources.
Hacking is a criminal act in most international countries, especially the
United States. However when hacking is done by request and under a contract
between an ethical hacker and organisation then it is legally acceptable. The
key difference is that the ethical hacker has authorisation to probe the
target. Hacking is done when examples of network weaknesses include poor
configuration of Web servers, old or unpatched software, disabled security
controls, and poorly chosen or default passwords.
In Maple Story, there are a variety of hacks, which many hackers may have used
in the game such as the ability to jump higher then the average players, fly,
have infinite HP / MP, and also possibly can change the character's amount of
level, statistics and mesos. Just newly released by hackers, hacked players can
now attack other players killing them instantly! Each time when a new patch is
being updated for Maple Story, a new hack patch is made to overwrite and thus
modify the newest game patch. Seldom but rarely, some advanced hacked patches
(i.e. Maple Mess) does not need to be repatched as it carries a special private
bypass which can bypass the patches each time Maple Story updates its game.
Occasionally, hacked patches used by hackers in Maple Story may mess up the
game play for every player, for example enemies may start to fly or may move
quicker then usual around the screen. Hacking of Maple Story with modified
hacked patches is an offence and and if found may be prone to a suspension for
up to 30 days.
