17.Dec.2004
A log of the recent chat with the developers has been posted at our board. There are some tidbits of news, so check it out if you were not able to attend.
Thanks to Chode for logging and formatting.
Oblivion-Lost.com and GSC Game World are proud to announce the schedule of the fans/developers chat. The chat will take place in our IRC channel. Find all the essential info here.
As for timing, you should join the channel on Friday, December 17 from 5 to 7 pm GMT (6 to 8 pm German time). This is a good web site for finding out how many hours + GMT you are so that you can arrive at the place of happening on time.
The topics for discussion: gameplay, AI, beta trials, modding tools. Please, note that no other topics will be accepted at this time.
The invited guests are:
Alexey Sityanov - Lead Game Designer
Dmitry Yasenev - AI Programmer
Andrew Kolomiets - Mod Tools Programmer
Oleg Yavorsky - PR
And some other guests might appear as well during the chat.
Worthplaying has come up with 10 new DirectX 9 screenshots. Despite being from the same E3 level that we already know, they are nonetheless very impressive.
Thanks: LPKorn3324
GSC was kind to answer some questions by the fans at the show Home PC.
- There was no clear answer as to why the SP was not shown at the show. GSC is working on testing and balancing.
- GSC thought that there was no need for physics in the demo, except for ragdoll-physics.
- Even though Russobit-M still lists S.T.A.L.K.E.R. as one of their published games, GSC themselves will be publishing it in the ex-Soviet countries.
- The possibility to play against bots on the MP maps will be given after the release of the game as an update due to lack of time.
- The grenade launcher did not work as it contained errors.
Expect many videos from the show at Oblivion-Lost.com by end of this week.
Special thanks go to our reader FlamingPumpkin who visited the exhibition "Home PC" in Kiev and shares his impressions of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl exclusively with us. The full report is available in our board. In addition, find 10 pictures attached. He is also going to visit the exhibition tomorrow, so if you have any questions, post them below the report as I will forward them to him in the evening today.
This is a must-read as there are some new information.
Stalkerfiles.com attended the GameStar Live! event and came back with five video clips. The clips capture some DX8 multiplayer gameplay. They are small and silent, yet clear enough to see what is going on.
Update: You can also find all the movies in one package here (right click -> save as).
Well GamesRadar seems to think so. They are reporting about a possible delay due to the game's current condition. They don't have a reliable source and are simply citing "rumors". Check it out for yourself here.
Update: Apparently, these rumours are based on the release date given at THQ.com - "winter 2005". We will let you know what the developers have to say, stay tuned.
2. Update: This update appeared at Gamesradar: "We spoke to STALKER's publishers THQ this very morning and they have strongly denied that the game will be subjected to any further delays and re-affirmed that the title is still on schedule for release on PC in May 2005."
The French gaming portal Gamekult has released a new preview. Apparently, it does not contain any new information. What makes it very interesting though, is the fact that about 80 new screenshots were attached. A must-see.
Additionally, the German online magazine Krawall received some photos, showing GSC demonstrating on the street.
Update: An English translation is available at our board.
THQ.de has posted a German translation of the fourth developer diary entry that also appeared in English at GameSpot a couple of months ago. Two new DirectX 9 screenshots are an interesting attachment, even though they are from the already known level that showcased the DX 9 rendering at E3 2004.
