December 15, 2004 - Japanese technology/middleware firm Metrowerks revealed today that for the PSP entry in the Dynasty Warriors series, which just arrived to Japanese retail today, publisher Koei made use of the company's CodeWarrior line of development tools.
Developers of all forms of software make use of integrated development environments in order to simplify the development process by putting all areas of programming into one roof. CodeWarrior is just one such environment that runs on Windows PCs.
According to Metrowerks, CodeWarrior allows for smooth porting of PS2 game code to the PSP, as the company already offers a CodeWarrior environment for the PS2. Koei made use of CodeWarrior for the development of the PS2 Dynasty Warriors games. The company cited good success with the PS2 version and a desire to use a development environment that minimizes differences in the platform as reasons for going with the tools for the PSP.
