Leo on Alexander
Talks about project's past.
- In a recent press conference in Los Angeles, superstar Leonardo DiCaprio talked about the Alexander the Great epic that he has long been attached to star in, which was beaten to the screen by Oliver Stone's version.

Some news outlets are spinning Leo's words to mean that the Baz Luhrmann/Dino DeLaurentiis project is dead – and it may very well be thanks to Stone's flop – but nowhere in the interview does he actually say that. If you read Leo's comments closely, he is actually talking about when Martin Scorsese was attached to direct Alexander.

DiCaprio and Scorsese first teamed for Gangs of New York and were poised to make Alexander together before opting for The Aviator instead.

"Alexander the Great was one of those things where Scorsese and I just share the same taste in similar things. We were both fascinated with Alexander the Great as well as Howard Hughes. They're completely different time periods and different men, but similar dynamics, men that keep on reaching for their ultimate goal and stop at nothing until they achieve that," DiCaprio said.

"It just happened to be that this script and project was way further advanced in the development stage than the script that landed in our lap from Alexander and we wanted to go forth – we had an intention at one time of doing them both, but you don't get everything you want all the time."

The Aviator opens December 17th.
