Bug Report: 2004-May-21
Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow, Manhunt, Beyond Good and Evil, Elder Scrolls III Morrowind, Dynasty Warriors 4
- IGN has always been on top of things; that's why we perioically gather a list of the nastiest game-stopping glitches and offer recommendations on how to avoid them. While not everyone is destined the experience the same "bugs", we know how frustrating they can be for the gamers who do face them. Here're some recently reported glitches/bugs to look out for:

Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow (XBOX)

The Bug: While playing multiplayer on the warehouse level I tried climbing on top of one of the missile racks and my spy fell right into the middle and couldn't move or shoot, and the mercs couldn't kill me either. Now this bug seems completely random and happens for apparently no reason and it has happened a couple times. Is the only fix to just hope it doesn't happen? Cause its pretty annoying to get stuck in the middle of a level during a ranked game.

The Fix: Peer-IGN has encountered the same bug before. His description: Happened to me once -- but I actually managed to get out after a while. Haven't figured out a fix yet either. Since this appears to be a random glitch, IGN recommends spy players avoid climbing the missile racks when possible.

Manhunt (PS2)

The Bug: In the last level where you have to defeat Pigsy (the guy with a pig's head and chainsaw) you are supposed to make Pigsy fall through this grate and fall to his death. One time, with the grate ready to fall, when Pigsy stepped onto the grate, the movie for Pigsy falling to his death played in addition to the animation for Carl falling (Carl was standing on top of the grate during the fight). The game froze on a black screen and the system had to be reset.

The Fix: I think the only way to get around this is to not stand on the grate at the same time as Pigsy. It also may have been that I had been playing the game for far too many hours that night, and the system may have had it. IGN recommends something similar, and giving your aging PS2 a damn rest after 6+ hours of continuous gameplay.

Beyond Good and Evil

The Bug: At the Black Isle, while driving the hovercraft up the sides of the island (I was trying to get to the top, not knowing I can get to the top later), the hovercraft passed through the rock, and the hovercraft became stuck inside. At this point, I had to reset the system.

The Fix: The only way around this I suppose is not go exploring inside the Black Isle. IGN recommends a similar approach by not using the hovercraft with a jump kit as a make-shift HMMV.

The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind

The Bug: I don't know if it will only work on the normal Morrowind because i have the game of the year edition. If anyone tries, I hope that it works. When you find a wall that is connecting at a ninety degree angle, go into the corner and start jumping while running towards the wall. You should begin escalading the wall. If you have the game of the year editions like me, don't use this in Mourhold Plaza Brindisi Dorom (or anywhere else in Mournhold). If you do, It will say that you cannot leave the city that way. If you have a scroll or a spell or ring or amulet that makes you jump, you can use it an still be able to jump. When you jump over the wall, you will end up in an endless sea. You can still enter Mournhold, but you will still be swimming even in the ground.

The Fix: To get out: Hit a high ordinator or Royal Guard with a targeted spell or marksman thing. The guard will come after you. Tell him to send you to jail. The only bad thing is you lose all things that you've stolen. IGN will also like to point out that you may indeed drive a Cadillac Escalade, but you should be "climbing" or "escalating" the wall in the above bug description.

Dynasty Warriors 4 (PS2)

The Bug: On the Battle of Han Zhong any custom officer you create and save to slot 4 (the bottom most slot on the Edit Officer screen, or the right-most slot on the Officer Select screen) will not appear correctly on the battle field and the PS2 will freeze (even on single player mode). This custom officer slot (and all the other slots) seems to be fine on all other stages.

The Fix: Avoid creating a custom officer in officer slot #4. Check IGN's Dynasty Warriors 4 Guide to see if officer slot #4 has a level 10 weapon (the best weapon) in the Battle of Han Zhong (doesn't seem to be) -- or you may be kicking yourself in the head for spending all that time for nothing.
