Phil Everly was an American singer and songwriter. He was one half of musical duo The Everly Brothers, with his brother Don Everly. The two had hits in the 1950s and 1960s.
Phil was the son of Margaret Eva and Isaac Milford “Ike” Everly, Jr. He was partly raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was married to Patrice Arnold, until his death. He had two children.
Phil’s paternal grandfather was Issac Milford Everly (the son of Jesse/Jessie Everly and Mary Jane Taylor). Issac was born in Muhlenberg, Kentucky, and had deep Colonial American roots. Jesse was born in Kentucky, the son of Simeon Everly, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Everly. Mary Jane was born in Kentucky, the daughter of Archibald Taylor and Mary Ann Brown.
Phil’s paternal grandmother was Mary Delilah Norris (the daughter of John Roland Norris and Lucy Jane Spears). Mary was born in Barren, Kentucky. Roland was born in Overton County, Tennessee, the son of William Roland “Billy” Norris and Mary Elizabeth “Polly” Jones. Phil’s great-grandmother Lucy was born in Barren County, Kentucky, the daughter of Harvey/Harry Spears and Mary Delilah/Lila Wilson.
Phil’s maternal grandfather was Louatress/Luatress Atris Embry (the son of Christopher Columbus Embry and Mary Embry). Luatress was born in Butler, Kentucky, to parents who were also born there. Christopher was the son of William C. “Billie” Embry and Evalene/Eveline Elizabeth Embry. Phil’s great-grandmother Mary was the daughter of William Wiley Embry and Frances Elizabeth Howerton.
