Tigers Grab Share Of Southwest Conference Championship

The Stockton Tigers secured at least a share of the Southwest Conference basketball championship last week with a win at Ash Grove. It was 22 years in the making as the Stockton Tigers clinched at least a share of the Southwest Conference championship with a strong outing at Ash Grove last Friday, ending conference play with a 7-1 record and a 16-8 record on the season. Newcomer Skyline has one conference game remaining as they currently hold a 6-1 record in conference play. Should Skyline defeat Ash Grove, they and Stockton would be co-conference champions. Should Skyline fall to the Pirates, Stockton would be the sole conference winner.
Makinsie Griffis (#10), Lillie Burchett (#15), and Taly Bock (#32) helped lead the Lady Tigers to an overtime victory at Adrian last Friday, winning 50-48.

Lady Tigers Nab First Win in 2025

Last Tuesday, the Lady Tigers traveled to Marionville in a make-up matchup delayed by inclement weather the week before. It was a tough night on the road as Marionville grabbed the Southwest Conference win, 54-38. The following evening, the Lady Tigers hosted the Lamar Tigers who took the matchup, 57-51. Finally, the Lady Tigers hit the road on Friday along with their Tiger counterparts for a girls/boys combined outing and pulled off an overtime victory, 50-48 against the Adrian Blackhawks.
At Adrian last Friday, junior Jax Baxter (center) scored his 1,000 point enroute to a hard fought victory over the Adrian Blackhawks. Teammates and classmates were on hand to help him celebrate this impressive milestone.

Tigers Drop 2 Of 3 Last Week; Baxter Hits 1,000 Points

Last week, the Tigers faced a gauntlet of three games, facing the #4 ranked Class 3 Greenwood Bluejays in Springfield on Monday, hosting Lamar on Tuesday, and then traveling to Adrian for a boys/girls combined night on Friday. The Tigers fell at Greenwood and to Lamar but bounced back with a strong victory at Adrian.

Tigers Grab Two Southwest Conference Wins

Last week, the Tigers traveled to Marionville before returning home to host Skyline in a game postponed to Saturday because of inclement weather. The Tigers thumped Marionville 60-41 and then handled the Skyline Tigers, 55-48, on Saturday evening at Stockton High School, grabbing the early lead in the Southwest Conference standings.

Lady Tigers Battle In Morrisville Tournament

Last week, the Stockton Lady Tigers competed in the 7th Annual Morrisville Girls Tournament, their second tournament in as many weeks. With stiff competition, the Lady Tigers took one of three games, losing to Walnut Grove in the tournament opener, defeating Lamar in semifinal action, and dropping the consolation game to the host Marion C. Early (Morrisville) Lady Panthers.

Tigers Take The Crown At Morrisville Tournament

Last week, fresh off their opening night blowout victory on the road at Butler, the Stockton Tigers competed in the 53rd Annual Morrisville Boys Tournament. As the #1 seed, the Tigers hoped to show their competition the season opener was no mirage, and the hometown favorites did not disappoint, extending their early season record to 4-0 with their closest margin of victory being 17 points over the four games

MoDOT announces Missouri 32 Corridor Project

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) held a public meeting on March 18 in the Stockton High School gymnasium to allow the public to meet MoDOT officials and ask questions or make comments on the newly unveiled Missouri 32 Corridor Project.
Stephanie Mears is the Stockton Chamber’s recipient of the Darrell and Betty Johnson Community Service Award. Mears is a business owner and active in several community organizations.

Stockton Chamber celebrates enduring legacy with the 52nd annual banquet

The Stockton Area Chamber of Commerce (SACC) 52nd annual banquet was held Saturday evening at the Ray H. Zumwalt Expo Center. Chamber President Chesi Haun, Vice President Amber Fidler, and Chamber member Robin Fischer emceed the event. Bill Crabtree, former Chamber president, and Willa Tucker, former secretary, were guests of honor. The highlight of the evening was the three awards given annually by the Chamber.

Stockton's second year for Night of the Arts

Stockton's Night of the Arts is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday. Doors will open at 5:30 P.M. The cost to attend is $5 for adults and $2 for students. Children under eight years of age can attend for free. Funds collected from the evening will go towards further developing the high school stage area and lighting.
Property pasture mowing and failure to comply with a variance granted to Cassell subdivision was a major topic of conversation at the Monday night Board of Aldermen meeting at city hall. The tension in the room was evident as Mayor Brandon Cahill asked the three spokesperson on the agenda to everyone to be respectful and not to talk over one another. The situation was eventually taken up in closed session. Following the closed session, Mayor Brandon Cahill gave the board’s conclusion.

Residents and representatives of Valley Lane disagree over variance extension

A significant discussion involving two residents of Valley Lane Street in the Cassell addition of Stockton and a representative of Wanda Cassell over an unfilled mowing issued by the city last year led to the Stockton Board of Aldermen going into closed session for a decision at the regularly scheduled meeting in city hall Monday night. After the closed session, Mayor Brandon Cahill said, "The city is continuing their rescinding of the variance based on the evidence provided. The city as a whole is looking into a city-wide agricultural variance."
